~Hey everybody! So, I decided to be nice and update again today. No, I don't know if this is really the correct or best way to do a kickflip (read below and it'll make sense) SO, if any of you reading happen to know how to skateboard, please let me know!

Chapter 7

Marc

After my toes fixed themselves, I decided to practice a kick flip on the skateboard. I wasn't horrible at it, but when I did kick flips I fell more than I landed. It just wasn’t something that I had practiced a lot, so I didn’t have the hang of the trick quite yet. It was dark outside. The streetlights were on and the cars were few and sparse on the road. The moon was casting its own glow, and I had just fallen for the fifth time

Ha, you'll never get it. My wolf floated inside my head, seeming smug for a moment.

'At least I can skateboard.' My retort wasn’t on its first use.

Sometimes I secretly hate you.

'I know that, so it's not really a secret.'

Yes but your part of me so it doesn't count.

'Aren't you just so smart?' My drawl echoed around my head to the wolf, who perked up cockily.

"You should roll your foot more." A timid voice spoke, and I looked up from the spot where I still sat on the street. Dakoda stood there, looking uneasy. In the faint light, something glimmered on her face.

Tears? My wolf whined, causing my heart to twist painfully.

"What?" I asked dumbly. Honestly, I just wanted to hear her speak again.

"That's a kick flip right?" She asked. I nodded slowly and I could feel Saxon watching my every movement. "Before you jump, you have to roll your foot towards the nose, then the side. You aren't and you should to make it smoother." She explained. I suddenly couldn't get my mouth to work; all I could do was stare at her, taking in her appearance. She was wearing a pair of pure black skinny jeans which hugged her legs, almost like a second skin. A neon yellow tank-top seemed to glow in the street light, contrasting against the black sweater she was wearing, which was too baggy to make out much of the rest of her form. Her reddish brown hair was parted to the left, just about at the point where it was beginning to cover her left eye, but not quite there yet. "Can I show you?" Dakoda asked softly, ducking her head. I stood and she flinched away from me. Frowning, I picked up my board.

"Sure." I finally spoke through my rapidly drying throat.

"Um… do you mind if I use your board?" She almost whispered while the light reflected off her skin.

She's blushing.

'What?'

Dakoda's blushing. There was no mistaking the smug undertone in my wolf's voice.

"Go ahead." I shrugged. Hesitantly she walked forward and I held out my board towards her. She took it quickly, avoiding the board where my fingers were.

Damn. My wolf snarled. I would only know for sure if we had physical contact.

'Language.' I chided smartly.

English. He retorted in a snarl.

'Wow, good one. I'm going to have to use that sometime.'

Dakoda dropped the board with careful movements, placing her shoes on the skateboard with practiced ease. She placed her left foot on the tail, shifting her right foot closer to the nose.

"You pop it then right after you do that," she explained, popping up the board, "You flick your foot to the side in a slight rolling motion." I nodded slowly.

"That makes sense." My voice came out huskier than I wanted and I cleared my throat. "Can I try?" I asked. She nodded, stepping back from my board. She retreated back to the opposite side of the street, watching me with wary eyes. A part of me wished she'd come back. I did exactly what she told me and landed perfectly. I tried again, again, one last time, and landed every time.

Maybe she can tutor you.

'Wouldn't that be nice?' I though with an inward, devilish grin.

"Want to have a go at it?" I asked, turning towards Dakoda. Her eyes widened in surprise and she shrugged.

"Sure." She sounded unsure. I frowned.

'Do you think she'd think I was crazy if I told her I wouldn't hurt her?'

As much as I hate to say so… yea.

Dakoda stepped on the board, positioning her feet. I saw her tense, ready to perform the trick. She was just beginning to move when,

"Dakoda!" Someone screamed. Losing her focus, Dakoda's foot ended up sliding the wrong direction and she fell clumsily to the ground. I heard her skin scratch the pavement. "Oops! Sorry chica!" Piper called from the corner, not looking sorry at all. I glared at her then turned to Dakoda, alarm and concern scorching me. Was she hurt?

"Are you okay?" I asked. She wiped the gravel from her hands, muttering obscenities. Wow, she had quite a large vocabulary.

"Fine." She grumbled. I held my hand out to her, willing her to take my hand so I could help her up. She stared at my outstretched fingers dumbly for a moment, before her eyes met mine uncertainly. Please, please take my hand, I begged silently. I continued to leave my hand there and she reached out her fingers tentatively.

Come on… My wolf whined impatiently.

Her fingers brushed my palm and I closed my own fingers around her hand, helping her up. Electricity raced up my skin, tingling where she touched me. I felt a strong rush of possessiveness towards her. Exuberance thrilled towards me and my wolf howled giddy inside my head. Dakoda's eyes widened in shock and she snatched her hand from mine, her cheeks looking a pale pink in the street light.

"Thanks." She mumbled. "See you around." She said, swiftly walking in the direction Piper was waiting.

"I'm sure you will." I called softly after her, just loud enough so only she and Saxon heard me. Saxon sauntered over to me as I watched her go, a grin tugging my lips.

"Did I miss something?" He asked, slightly smirking, glancing to Dakoda. I didn't look away from her retreating form, watching her punch Piper in annoyance.

"What was that?!" She hissed at Piper who I could hear laugh in response. I wanted to laugh myself. I felt suddenly as if I was flying through the forest on four paws again, my paws skimming the grass as I ran.

            "Sax, that's Dakoda. My mate."
