Chapter 32
Dakoda
Grinning at my new found confidence, I hopped up the steps, running through the door to Marc’s room, and then closing it behind me. That had been fantastic.
‘Did you see his face?’ I asked Luna, smirking to myself while suppressing a chuckle. ‘That was hilarious!’
I do not understand why you have not just forgiven him yet... Luna sighed. But yes. I did see his face. Her tail wagged while she shared a wolfish grin with me.
“Dakoda, who knew you, had it in you to do damage like that!” Liza laughed as she pulled her dyed hair in a ponytail, walking into the room with Tammy following, also in her own fit of childish giggles. “His face when he saw you! Oh my gosh it was priceless! I was dying, trying to keep from laughing!” Liza jumped onto the bed in her own Hello Kitty pajama bottoms, while making a mocking face. Bursting into another fit of obnoxious laughter, she started rolling around over-dramatically as she laughed. The smile on my face seemed etched in my skin.
When was the last time I had been this happy?
My fingers went to my phone which had a flashing light, letting me know I had a message. Another voicemail. I winced at the caller ID.
“What’s wrong?” Liza’s voice turned into one of concern. My head shook jerkily in a harsh manner.
“My dad.” Muttering, my phone flew across the room onto a pile of my clothes in the corner, prior to throwing it. There would be a punishment if I called back. He would be murderous.
“Not answering?” Liza questioned. “Shouldn’t you let him know you’re ok?”
“No.” Flopping down onto the bed, my arm flung over my face to cover my eyes from the light. Exhaustion was tugging me down into its embrace. “It’s just a voicemail anyways.”
“Oh.” Liza murmured. “Well, anyways, how long are you going to drag this along?” Her quick change of the subject came as a relief to me.
“Just another day or two. It’ll be fun.” I grinned at her, opening my tired eyes for a quick moment, followed by closing them again within a few moments.
No it will not. Luna pouted inside my head. She was the only one who had objected to messing around with Marc and the whole ‘mates’ thing.
“Once he figures out what you’re doing, he’ll play back.” Liza chuckled.
“Let him.” My shrug was nonchalant.
“Marc plays dirty.” Tammy made a face, wrinkling her nose up while sticking her tongue out. That was new information.
“Like a mud covered pig.” Liza agreed, throwing a smile in my direction. “But I’m not too worried about you. You’ll be fine.” She reassured.
“You know it.” I agreed cockily, hiding my unease with a forced half-smile.
“Not that you were bad as a human, but you’re a lot more fun now.” Liza chuckled to herself.
