SHORT STORY Dan's hesitant to press the send button.

The part that terrifies him the most is knowing that his long term relationship will be over. And for what? He doesn't have an excuse other than the fact he no longer loves her, it's like all of his love he once had has completely ran out. Bone-fucking-dry. For this particular reason the 33 year old happens to feel a little uneasy, allowing his nerves get to him.

Funnily enough, Dan's normally the guy who gets dumped. Not the other way around. However in this scenario, he knows that his girlfriend will never dump him. It's a fact that depresses him. So for it, Dan's taking matters into his own hands...whether he likes it or not.

Chris Wood, the guy who plays on drums, stands besides Dan with his arms tightly folded. Dan acknowledges Woody's presence by nodding his head towards him, who in return does the same back. Neither of them say anything, as thrilling that sounds. Instead, Dan glances back down at the bright rectangular screen. He then re-reads his long winded breakup paragraph, making sure that there's no grammatical or punctuational errors.

The drummer turns away from the other guys who're messing around with old sound equipment that they've just rediscovered, and then stealthily looks over Dan's shoulder. It's rude, sure, but he can see that something has been clawing at his friends neck. As arsehole as Dan may seem behind closed doors, Woody genuinely wants to help him.

However, his eyes widen in shock of what the message is. "Fucking hell, mate." Woody cannot help saying something.

Startled, Dan hold's his phone close to his tummy while Woody almost laughs. He's disgusted...but also extremely shocked that Dan would do such a rude thing. "You've been together for ten years." Dan closes his eyes at the bitter truth.

"If I breakup face to face with her...she's going to cry. When she cries, I cry. Then she's going to hold the side of my cheek for comfort, and kiss me. After that, she'll probably tell me that she's sorry for being a bitch. Then we're just going to end up having pity sex...and I'll still be stuck in the same dead end relationship."

"How many times have you tried breaking up with her, Jesus." Woody knows that what Dan has just said sounded way too accurate to be a presumption.

Dan however shakes the head at the answer. He doesn't want to say how many times that has happened, because it already embarrasses him as it is.

"Since her family abandoned her."

"Shitttt..."

"Yeah, tell me about it." Dan tilts his head backwards before wanting to literally scream at the top of his lungs, although he doesn't.

He just thinks about all the good times that they might have if they stay together...even if he doesn't want to be in that relationship anymore.
