Chapter 19

Felix's POV
We reach the Bremin forest, the place that Jake has lead us to looks familiar, and I recognise it as the place where we got transported back to this world from the other. Although, it has been cleared so it now looks like the shed area. A storm is brewing restlessly up ahead, slowly churning towards us.
On the ground, the talisman has been carved into the dirt, glowing big and gold, bathing the person who drew it in its warm light. Walking in slow, steady circles around the drawn talisman is Alice, in her black cloak, holding a staff she is deep in concentration, mumbling a chant under her breath.
We slowly walk around to the other side of the circle and Alice smiles, looking up at us. "Hello, dearies." She smirks, Oscar is tied to a trees behind her. "I'm so very glad you could make it.
"Oscar!" Felix shouts over the storm. "Oscar!
"Felix!" He shouts back. "It's too late! She already has what she wants from me!"
Alice sighs. "You really haven't learned anything? Oh well, I guess there is no time for explanations."
Two giant beasts appear at her sides. I recognise one from the attack, when Raven told me who she really was. The other looks identical.
"Try to stop me!" Screams Alice. I have to think of something, anything! I have to save Oscar, I have to put things right, even if it's the last thing I do.
My heart beats faster as she takes Oscar and stands him in the middle of the circle. My brothers eyes turn white and a bolt of lightning strikes him down. I swallow hard. Just then, in front of Oscars limp body, a door materialises, opening and glowing black. Screams come from within, terrible screams that fill the air with a sense of dread, fear, hopelessness.
Felix! I hear Ravens voice in my head. Don't turn, just listen to me. We have to close the portal, from both sides, it's the only way. When Alice deals with Oscar, that's our chance. You have to close the doorway no matter what!
I nod slowly, indicating that I heard her. Alice steps forward, and with a swift motion of her hand, she sweeps Oscar to the side, approaching the doors. The other Oscar emerges from the doorway, like a ghost, not solid. I gasp and run over to my brother.
"You will pay for this you monster!" I yell. She turns to me, laughing.
"And who are you to stop me?" She seems amused as she makes her way over to me.
"I am Felix Ferne, and if I can't stop you, I know someone that can." I stare at her, then my eyes shift to the door. "Now, Raven! Do it now!"
Right on Que. Raven speeds to me, grabbing me and running to the doors. Andy, Sam and Jake rush over to Alice, holding her down. I honestly couldn't ask for better friends.
"Now what?!"I shout, asking Raven. The others are watching intensely. Alice is dawned by defeat.
"We have to close the doors from both sides!" She shouts back.
"But how?!"
"There is only one way!" She replies. "One of us has to go through the portal into the other world and close them at the same time! I will go!"
"But how are you going to get back?" Lightning strikes and thunder rumbles.
"I can't." She says, tears leaking from her eyes like a broken tap.
"But, that means I'll never see you again!" I realise.
Raven shakes her head. "Hurry!" The others yell. "We don't have much time!"
Raven looks at me. "We have to do this, it's the only way!"
"No!" I demand. "I promised is never leave you! I swore on my life that I'd protect you!"
Raven smiles. "You can not protect me forever."
I start to cry, one thing I haven't done since I made my brother fall out of that tree. I haven't cried in almost 2 whole years. I kiss her, I never want to let her go, never. She was there for me when I needed her most, and now I can't be here for her.
As if reading my mind, Raven pulls away. "You will always be with me." She says. "Forever."
I shake my head as she slowly loosens her grip on my hand, sliding into the portal.
"I love you." She smiles. And then she is gone. Gone forever.
"I love you too." I whisper. And then, no one can stop me, I am furious. Anger drives me and I scream, crying. I push the doors closed with all my strength.
The storm disappears as do the doors and I am left standing alone. Not knowing if Raven is dead or not, but knowing that I will never see her again. No matter how much I want to. She is gone, and it's all my fault.
I turn to the others who are still holding down Alice. They are shocked. Still crying slightly, I walk over to them, to Alice. It was her fault too, and I will never forgive myself for letting her do this. I find myself bringing my hands together, screaming, a ball of fire appears and I make it Into a dagger, aiming it right at Alice's heart.
