Chapter 10

Sam's POV
We are at the training shed again, we have almost completely mastered our elements and we are now starting to understand our second ones. Sometimes, while we train, I see Felix and Raven whispering to each other.
Now I can't help but think that something is going on between them, they know something we don't, and they are determined for it to stay that way. I think of when Felix and Blake were together, he seemed equally happy now, and considering he can't remember her, there is no reason for him to be heartbroken apart from Ellen leaving him.
I have gotten so curious now, I can't help it. I walk up to them.
"Hey!" I smile.
"Sam! What are you doing here?!" Raven is taken by surprise, and she is pissed.
"Hey, hey, it's ok." I put my hands up. "Chill out, man."
"You really know how to interfere with other peoples private business." Okay, Raven is beyond pissed.
"Dude, calm down, I only came to see what you's were up to. I didn't mean to-" I say.
"Yeah, well, next time don't." Felix takes Ravens hand and they walk to the others.
Jeez, there is definitely something going on, and I have a feeling I'm gonna figure it out. But when I do, I might not like it.

"Ok. I'm done." Andy sits down and the rest of us follow, apart from Raven and Felix.
"Alright." Felix says. "We're done. We'll train again tomorrow an-" Felix stops as soon as Raven tightens her grip on him.
We stand up. "What's wrong?" Jake asks, concerned.
"Something. Is. Coming." Raven is really starting to creep me out.
"Clever Raven." Echoes a voice all around us as Alice appears in front of us. "Smart Raven. Let's try... Liar Raven!" She laughs.
"Leave her alone!" Felix yells.
"Dude, what's going on?" I ask.
"Ooh, let me explain." Alice smiles wickedly. "Oh, no, wait. I mustn't reveal Ravens secret, hush, hush! I mustn't reveal the monster that she really is."
"Go." Raven says to us, stepping forward. "I'll handle this."
"No." Says Jake. "I'm staying." Agrees Felix. "Me too, Raveen." No, I will not let that go.
"No, go!" Raven yells urgently.
"You can't do this alone!" Andy confirms.
"Fine, you just watch me." She says. Felix grips her hand, but Raven just shakes her head and he lets go.
"Brave little girl." Alice grins. "Such a shame to spill your blood, the blood of a true warrior, the blood of a black hearted, cold minded, evil soul."
And then, the fight begins. It's all a blur, but I see things Raven does, and they are not human. After a while, Alice retreats, laughing wildly and evilly.
We run up to Raven, who is hugged tightly by Felix. "Are you okay?" He asks. Raven nods, kissing him. "I am fine."
"Wait a minute." I say. "Rewind. What just happened?"
"Noth-" Felix is interrupted by Raven.
"It is okay, I will tell you." She takes a deep breath in. "I am a vampire."
"Wow." Jake's mouth is hanging wide open, but not as wide as mine, and certainly not as wide as Andy's.
"Since when?" I ask and everybody looks at me. "I mean, when did you get bitten?"
"I did not get bitten, Sam." Raveen explains. "I was born like this. My mum, brother, and my dad are all vampires too. Our family has been vampires forever."
"Wait a minute," Andy says. "I thought you said your mother died. And didn't you also say your brother was your step brother? And who is your family anyway?"
"Well, I had to make something up." Raveen smiles sadly. "I have hidden the truth too long, even from you Felix, some of it I have told, but here is all of it. My mother is a vampire from London, her name is Desdemona, she met my father in Transilvania, 1820. They were just friends. My father married Magda shortly after. Centuries past without a word from Desdemona. Then, in 1997, I was born and Magda was more furious than ever. A year later, my brother Vladimir was born. I am here with my uncle, Ivan, the traditional bloodthirsty, power hungry vampire. Vlad is a vegetarian. To make matters worse though, my family is coming to visit me for a few weeks."
We process all this in roughly a minute. Then, Jake speaks up. "What's so bad about your family coming to see you?"
"Because..." Raveen starts to explain. "Let me put it this way. My real, full name, is Raven Di Morte Dracula. My dad is the prince of darkness, Count Dracula."
"Oh." I say in a small voice. "So I better not call you Raveen, then. You'll probably rip my head off now."
Raveen shows her fangs. "Do. Not. Tempt. Me." Then she laughs and shakes her head. "Of course not. You are my friends. All of you."
Felix takes her hand and she smiles up at him.
"Let's get outta here." I smile. And together, we walk away.
