Chapter 18

Andy's POV
We rush into the house.
"Oscar!" Felix shouts. No response.
"Felix!" Raven screams from Oscars room. Felix shoves us aside in the corridor and jogs to from where Raven is calling him. We all follow.
The room is still the same as it always was, the only difference is that the window is smashed and Raven is standing in the middle of the room with a note in her hand. Presumably from Alice.
"What is it?!" Felix hurries to Ravens side. "A note?"
Raven nods. "More like a funeral invitation."
"Well?" I ask. "Read it!"
"Okay." Raven takes a deep breath before continuing. "The doors are locked, inside and out, but I have both keys, and you are without, good luck trying to stop me, little children -Alice."
"What does that mean?" I ask.
"It means that to close, or open the doors, you need to do it from both sides. Meaning she has both versions of Oscar." Raven says.
"But why Oscar?" Felix asks, "And why does she need both versions of him? I mean, can't she get someone else?"
Raven sighs. "You need someone powerful. And two people who have a strong, unbreakable connection."
"What happens if the doors open?" Sam asks the question we all are scared to hear the answer to.
"Nothing." Jake speaks up, I almost forgot he was there.
"But that's good, isn't it?" Sam ventures.
"No." Jake replies. "Nothing is left. If the doors are open for too long, the power leaks and both worlds will be swallowed into the void. Nothing left. All empty."
A cold shiver passes through the room.
"What happens to the person opening or closing the doors?" Felix looks at Raven.
A single tear drops from Ravens eye. "They die. If they the doors aren't closed in time, everyone gets sucked into the void. But the person closing the doors from the other side, they get trapped in the other version of this reality, with no way back."
"We better get going then." I break the silence. "We will save Oscar, Felix, be sure of that."
Felix nods. Raven grips his hand tightly. "I promise, I won't let anything happen to you, to any of you, or Oscar." She says.
Together, we run to the forest.
