if your kid is sick with the flu, or is showing symptoms, please do not send them to school

there are kids like me who can not afford to get the flu

it's miraculous I've lasted this long. with the influenza crisis in the nation, it's very worrying for me.

in case you don't know, I have idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), which means that when my immune system attacks viruses, it mistakes my blood cells/platelets for viruses and kills them as well. I had to get my spleen removed when I was five, so now I don't have anything to help fight viruses except for modern medication.

with the way viruses spread, this is very dangerous for me

there are three diseases that are deadly for me: flu, pneumonia, and meningitis. if I even have one strain of either of these, I'm sent to the hospital under intensive care.

so, when you send your sick kid to school, you're putting the lives of kids like me in danger. it's not just kids who have ITP that are being put in danger, these viruses in itself are deadly. so, this is maximized for sensitive people

the worst part is, I can't even get another flu shot because of the national shortage. please, let your kid recover before sending them back to school.

it doesn't matter if they're failing a class and need to go to make up their work. your kid is sick. think about the consequences of you sending your child to school.

that's all I have to say
