Mike's POV"Sugar?" I ask Ella as the kettle boils the water next to me on the bench. In front of me was a light figure of a girl in a red coat, with sunray beaming behind her like fire from the window. Her brown hair was dark and wavy and grew to her hips.
Her eyes were plain with no makeup, but her brown rings of colour in her eyes where sheltered by long black lashes that made my heart beat skip when she looked over to me.
She smiled softly and didn't say a word. She just nodded. Her hand was on her stomach, with long shining nails tracing patterns on her black singlet underneath her coat. She was gorgeous heartbroken girl still in love. That didn't know to live in the dark, and cry her to sleep.
She was strong, tough... a fighter, a bigger fighter than most. And she was in my kitchen.
I looked away when she saw my stare, and got a teaspoon out of the draws next to me that held the cutlery and put to teaspoons of sugar in both cups - just how I liked it - of coffee. The water was boiled by the time I did that, and I poured the water into the cups and added milk whilst stirring. The girl sat on a chair now, next to the dining table. "Here," I said and gave her the cup.
"Thank you," Ella said quietly.
I sat opposite her. "You're welcome." She smiled softly but it didn't fool me for happiness. "You okay?"
"Just tired."
I was about to say something and suddenly my home phone started to ring, I tried to ignore it and then sighed, I shouldn't ignore it. I shouldn't - so many things have happened recently, you ever know. "Hello?" I said, answering the cordless phone.
"Hey Mike!" it was Ashton. "It's Ashton. I have fabulous news!"
