Emily's POV 

I wake up thinking to the night before. Did Bella and Sou see me kissing Jacob? They couldn't have. Sou would've made the biggest deal. But Bella would have made her shut up. I shrug at the thought and start to get ready for school.

"Hey guys," I say getting onto the bus with Sou and Bella.

"Hey, you look like you're feeling better." Bella tells me.

"Yea I am, nothing that a little medicine, food, and sleep could fix." I say, kind of lying. 

"Is there anything wrong? You're acting........ nicer than usual." Bella says as I let a random kid sit next to me.

"I'm fine, I told you." I say annoyed. They shrug and spent the rest of the ride in silence.

*SKIP TO GYM*

We walk into gym and wait for our teacher to call attendance so we can go change.

"We're doing basketball today, right?" Sou asked.

"Yea I'm pretty sure. I think we're joining up with the boys gym again to get partners." I say.

Sou sighs, "Of course we are." 

"Don't be so mad, you may get Weston as a partner, last time all you needed to do was choose the same number." Bella says.

We finish changing and go into the gym and see the boys gym class waiting for the girls. After everyone gets to the gym, the girls coach starts talking.

"This time we're gonna choose numbers 1-.........." she starts to say. I lose track of what she's saying as I start talking to Sou and Bella. "And start." 

We all wrote down a number and waited for our numbers to be called so we could get a partner. Sou and Bella get their boyfriends because they chose the same numbers. It leaves me wondering who I'm gonna get. 

"7" our coach says. I stand up along with a random kid from the boys group. I give a small smile and walk up to him.

"Hi, I'm Emily," I say smiling, giving out my hand to shake.

"I'm James," he tells me as we shake hands. We stand at the other side of the gym with Sou, Bella, Weston and Mario.

"Hey guys, this is James. James this is Bella, Mario, Weston, and Sou." I say pointing at each one of them. They smile and greet him. Bella and Sou pull me off to the side while Mario and Weston talked to James.

"Um, what are you doing?" Bella asks me. 

"What?" I asked them.

"You and James? What happened to you and Jacob?" Sou cuts in and asks. I just stare at them.

"Me and James are just partners for this unit in gym. It's not like I chose him to be my partner. And me and Jacob cut a deal where were not dating yet. We'll only be friends." 

"Yea ok," Sou scoffs. Bella lightly elbows her in the stomach. "What was that for????" she whines. Bella looks at Sou and Sou quickly goes quiet. 

"Ok, then." I say weirdly. "Come on, coach is calling us." 

We all go up to her as she explains the sport we're starting. I zone her out as we learned all this last year. I start to stare at James. He had dark black hair and big brown eyes.

"Come on Em," he says cutting me off of the short staring session I had.

"We have nicknames now?" I ask laughing. He laughs as we start to do drills. 

"Lockers!" our coach yells. We quickly put the balls back and run to the locker room. Bella and Sou just look at me.

"Ok guys seriously what, nothing is going on between me and Jacob so I'm not cheating on him." I tell them annoyed.
