Layla’s P.O.V
He sighed. I could…what? Why did he sigh? Maybe he’s just tired. I climbed off his lap when heard footsteps coming towards the room. He door, opened and the doctor walked in with Jeff’s medical clipboard or something. “Jeff, you’re awake. Good. We’ve checked you and there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Except that you have depression. You might want to take care of that. Did you have your lunch? Were you hungry? Lack of energy? No appetite? The doctor threw questions at Jeff, while examining his clipboard. Jeff and I looked at each other and broke into identical laughter. I decided to speak after seeing the doctor’s confused face. “Jeff CAN NOT stay away from food. Even before he fainted, he dragged me to Baskin Robin’s,” I said, still laughing. The doctor smiled. “Well, that isn’t his problem then. We used his medical card to settle the bill. You’ll be discharged in an hour, Jeff,” the doctor said and left the room. I moved closer to Jeff, making sure to leave a few inches between us. Seeing his face so bright and cheerful and any body contact will make me pounce on him. Don’t blame me, my hormones are pretty crazy. Jeff looked at me straight in the eyes, he smiled and stood up. He grabbed his clothes from the table and ever so swiftly he kissed me on the cheek before changing. I blushed and turned away. He chuckled. Seconds later, he stood in front of me standing only in his dark jeans. He tilted my chin to look at him. “Where shall we go next?” he asked. Distracted, I tumbled over my words before finally saying, “Well, we have to take a cab to the mall. My car is still there, then we could go home,” “Home is not an option, babe,” he said, bringing his shirt over his head, his muscles flexing. Before I could even reply, “Let’s go for a movie,” he said and sat beside me. “But you just discharged; you can’t go for a movie. You might not have fully recovered. You’d get sick again!” I rambled, rather loudly. He laughed and pulled me onto his lap, my back facing him. He circled his arms around my waist, under my shirt. He moved my hair to my left shoulder and planted a kiss on my neck, and I fluttered, like hell. His hot breath lingered on my skin and he buried his face on my neck, biting the skin behind my ear. Oh God. “I will never get sick again, babe. Not with you around,” he said and kissed my neck again. Sometimes I wonder, if we are just best friends or one step further.
Jeff’s P.O.V
We packed my things, grabbed the things we bought and took a cab to the mall that I fainted, all within an hour. I placed the bags on the back seat. Layla sat on the passenger’s seat and I drove. The Cineplex was about a little less than a mile away. The radio was playing with the volume low. I felt really stiff and serious. I didn’t really know why. I pulled the armrest away and pulled Layla closer to me, my eyes never leaving the road. I draped my arm over her shoulder and she laid her head on my chest. She kissed my neck and I smiled down at her which she returned. We definitely cannot stay at friends. I’m sure about that.
************
20 minutes later or so, we pulled in into the Cineplex’s parking lot. We walked in a comfortable silence exchanging a smile every now and then. We bought two tickets to the movie ‘The Fault in Our Stars” starting in half hour. We bought popcorn, drinks and a hot dog for me because I got hungry. Minutes before the movie started, we entered the theatre. We made our way to our seats, careful not to drop the popcorn. Layla accidentally stepped on a douche bag’s feet who shouted at her. “Watch where you’re going, idiot!”. I turned to give him a death glare and he turned his attention back to the screen. We sat down just as the movie started.
Layla moved closer to me. At first I thought she was just moving for comfort, but then her attention wasn’t on the movie. She was disturbed and was still moving. I leaned in to her and whispered, “Hey, what’s wrong?”my eyes still on the screen. “Some idiot is disturbing me. He’s moving his hand up and down my arm,” she said, almost in tears. I moved forward in my seat to see that douche’s face. He was a young guy, a little older than me maybe. His hands were reaching for Layla’s thigh. I ordered Layla to switch seats, and she obeyed immediately. The frown was clear on his face when Layla switched seats. I sat down, and went closer to his face, “You better keep your filthy hands to yourself, before you end up in the hospital. I don’t want to cause a scene, so it’s better if you leave or my fist will be on your jaw,” I threatened him. I don’t threaten much, heck I don’t even threaten others. But when it comes to Layla, there is nothing else that I’m doing. He gulped and walked away.
Layla whispered to me, “What did you do?”
“Oh nothing. I just gave him a little threat to break his jaw if he doesn’t leave,” I said and smiled at her the most beautiful woman in my life. She smiled at me and laid her head on my shoulder. I draped my arm around her and she nuzzled onto my chest.
