Jeff’s P.O.V
Right, right. I’m so pumped up and nervous and excited and terrified at the same time. I’ve planned the date perfectly, and I just want things to go smoothly as planned. I’ve packed the bags and everything. I’m driving and she’s sleeping. I’ll let things be that way. Meeting with her father at the hospital went smoothly, without much of a commotion. So, up until that it’s great.
“Layla? Layla, do you need to use the washroom? I missed the first exit back home, so it’ll take a while to reach home. DO you want to change?” I asked her. She just woke up, but didn’t say anything, instead she just nod. “How long have we been driving?” she asked after we got down at Target. “Um, I missed the exit, 10 minutes ago. We have to drive another 3 hours or less, I’ve called your mom and informed her that we’ll be late, so don’t worry,” I assured her. She nodded and pulled her hair into a bun. WE walked into the store to be greeted by aisles and aisles of things. Its been quite a while since I came in here. “Can you help me choose?” she asked. I followed her, and we picked out a sleevesless tank top that read, ‘Burgers and Fries’ and proceeded to the counter. After paying for it, Layla entered the washroom to change into the shirt. 10 minutes later she returned with her hair loose again, and her old clothes tucked beneath her arm. After she sat down, I told her to go to sleep and that I’ll wake her up, once we were done. I’m just using this as an excuse so that I can drive in circles and give Akshay and the rest enough time to set up everything . After about half hour I pulled in front of a Burger joint that I’ve been planning to bring her for a long time. Its actually only 10 minutes from where I live, but who cares. I shook her a little before she jolted up, scared. “Hey, no. It’s just me. I was wondering if you were hungry. So I saw this Burger place, do you want to get something to eat?” I asked her. Right on cue, her stomach rumbled, and I smiled at her. She rolled her eyes, and smiled back. “Fine, let’s go,” she said and walked to the restaurant.
“Yes, hey can I have a Double Cheeseburger with some cheesy fries and a Regular Cheeseburger with some cheesy fries,” I ordered and closed the menu book. “Where is this place?” she asked. “Um, it’s an hour away from home,” I lied. She nodded, but I couldn’t stand lying to her so I said, “Ugh, look. This place is just 10 minutes from our home, and I didn’t miss the exit or anything, and I’ve been driving in circles for more than an hour. But don’t ask me why, or if I’m planning to kidnap you, Just don’t ask any questions, and just please listen to me, okay?” in a single breathe. Her eyes widened at my sudden outburst but she just nodded and eyed me suspiciously. Our food, came and I didn’t even go over the fact that I was on a date, and dug my face in those greasy fries, and huge burger.
AS we walked to the car, I burped loudly, really loudly, and set Layla on a laughing fit. “You stink Jeff! Last one to reach the car is a rotten egg!!” she yelled and started running towards the car. Rotten egg? What did it- OH!!! I started running towards the car, and just before I touched the handle, she plced her finger tip on the hood and said, “You’re the rotten egg,” and smirked before sitting inside the car. Oh Layla. I sat down in the car, and pressed play on the most romantic song I had on my playlist. “Layla,” I breathed, and she turned to me. “I have a secret to tell you, come closer,” I gestured to her. She leaned closer to my face, and I couldn’t take it any more. I grabbed her face, and with one swift motion I carried her onto my laps. I crashed my lips with hers and muttered to myself of how much I’ve missed this. My hands trailed up her shirt and her finger played with my hair. She pulled me closer, obviously missing this as much as I did. We deepened the kiss, and finally let go, both of us out of breath. “Save it for later,” I said, as she climbed of my lap, and I quickly pecked her on the lips, before speeding onto the high way.
After Layla went to the public washroom, I quickly called Adam, to see if everything was ready because we were only minutes away from the exit I should take. Once again this place that I’m going is only an hour away from the Government Hospital but in the other direction. But I have been driving for straight four hours or even more, just to kill time. I have no idea how much gas I’ve wasted. “We will be there in another 20 minutes,” I told Layla, once she sat down. “Will be where?” she asked. And “There,” was all I replied before driving again.
Exactly after 10 minutes I blindfolded Layla, with the scarf I brought along. Another 10 minutes later, I pulled into the hotel we will be staying for another 2 nights. I carefully brought her inside, without letting her trip on anything. We got awkward stares and some ‘Aww’ sounds from everyone in the lobby, but I made my way to the reception without bothering to acknowledge them. ‘I gave the code, and carefully led Layla to the elevator. “Jeff, where are we? Why is it so cold?” she asked, holding on to my jacket. “Just a little while longer, hold on,” I said and she nodded. I walked in to the room Elsa booked for us, and the four of them, did quite a good job. The built a fort out of extra pillows and blankets with nutella sandwiches, yogurt, pints and pints of ice cream, coke, pizza, popcorn and all sorts of junk food. On the huge flatscreen TV was a long list of Disney Movies waited to be played. I grabbed a pair of PJs from the bag and gave them to Layla. I told her to change into them without taking of the blindfold. She obeyed. And while she was gone. I changed into my own PJs. “Jeff?” I heard her knock the door, and I quickly opened it. I led her to the bed-fort, and stood behind her to take of the blindfold. Hey eyes slowly adjusted to the light and I heard her gasp, and I knew I did a great job.
