Jeff’s P.O.V
I hope she’s finding for me. Now, I’m not saying that she shouldn’t have won the prom queen. But she has to dance with Adam, and he’s an asshole. So as I say. I’m experiencing mixed feelings here. Insecurity, jealousy, I don’t even know. Maybe I should go inside. I took a step towards the hall but quickly retrieved. I’ll be fine. I just need to calm myself down and I promised myself that I’ll be back inside in no time. I sat by the fountain outside, sipping on my champagne glass that I refilled on my way out. There were a few couples outside making out, intensely. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and I turned around, stunned. Her usual brown hair was now highlighted in light green and red and curled towards the bottom. She was wearing a black strapless glittery cocktail dress that ended a good couple of inches above her knees. She was tanned and her brown eyes were green that shimmered under the moonlight. I could see that she was beyond wasted. My past hit me like a truck and I somehow managed to croak out the words, “Elsa?”
“You remember me. Hi Jeff,” she slurred as she sat next to me. “Of course, I do. I haven’t seen you in ages. Where have you been?” I asked, trying to make a non awkward conversation. “You didn’t see me? I see you every single day. What are you doing here? Not going in?” she asked, her hands pulling on the hem of her dress. “Um, just came out for some air. It’s a bit stuffy in there,” I told and she simply nodded. “You with anyone now?” I asked her again when she didn’t say anything. She was silent. “No, I’m not,” she said and bit her lip, looking at her nails. “Oh, um I should be going in now. See you later,” I said and stood up. “No wait,” she grabbed me by my tuxedo, and stood up. “Aren’t you going to ask me for a dance, Jeff? Don’t you miss me?” she asked and put my arms around her waist, pulling me closer. “Um, Elsa no. I’m with someone. I don’t think we should be doing this,” I said and gulped. She paused. “You’re with someone? Who?” she pulled back and I let out a breath. “Layla,” I muttered, adjusting my tuxedo. “Wait, Layla? Layla Young? As in your best friend? Since when?” she shot me questions. “Yes, she’s the one. And a few hours ago. I just asked her to be my girlfriend just now,” I told her and smiled at the memory. “What? And what are you doing here alone?” she asked crossing her arms. “Well, she won prom queen and I’m just giving her some time, that’s all,” I told her and sat back down. “Aww! She won Prom Queen, Jeff! You should be inside!” she told me, excited. Elsa and Layla were best friends when Elsa and I were together. Elsa would hang out with Layla more than me, until we broke up. “Well, okay,” I told her and we got up to go to the hall.
Layla’s P.O.V
“Adam. Jeff’s missing,” I whispered to Adam as my feet synchronized with his. “What?” he asked, his face searching the crowd for Jeff. “Where’d he go? Do you want me to look for him?” he asked, and I just shook my head assuring him it was alright. Ten minutes passed, and I was still searching the crowd for Jeff. Akshay and Irene were dancing to the rhythm but Jeff wasn’t anywhere. Maybe he was out or something. “I think it’s enough, do you think we could go back to your table? I’ll leave if it’s okay for you,” he said, now already stopped shuffling his feet. I nodded and we walked to my table, we sat down as the crowd slowly retrieved to their respective tables. Akshay and Irene came after a few minutes. Sensing the new person, they shook hands with Adam and introduced themselves. “Akshay, where’s Jeff?” I asked him, still looking around. “He just went out after you got up the stage. Didn’t say anything to either of us,” he said and shrugged. Adam gave my hand a reassuring squeeze. He said he was sorry for what happened a few days ago at school, and I said it was okay. I fixed my gaze at the back glass door, waiting for Jeff to come in. I drank another two tall glasses of champagne and I could feel the alcohol taking its toll on my system. The door opened, and Jeff came in. But he wasn’t alone. Oh he sure wasn’t. Elsa stood beside him, smiling at him like she used to. But she looked different, even more prettier. I sensed Adam’s eyes on me, as he saw what I saw. He shook me but I sat still, looking at the once together couple walking towards our table.
HELLO MY LITTLE GUMMYBEARS! Sorry, I ran out of endearments :/ Did you guys like this chapter? A friend of mine suggested I bring back Elsa in this story, so that was what I did. And in case you all were wondering, I pictured Elsa as Barbara Palvin, just added a bit of details to her appearance. Hope it was okay.
