“Here’s to the most beautiful girl in the room,” Jeff said as he handed me a tall glass of champagne, by the stem. I took it from his hand and thanked him. I took a sip of the champagne and the delicate taste danced around my tongue, as if I just experienced a mouthgasm. “I see, you’ve brought your slut to the dance aye Jeff? Hope she doesn’t hook up with someone else. Mind asking her if she’d want to be my slut tonight?,” I heard someone say behind me, and I froze. No not now, I said to myself as tears began to swell on the brim of my eyes. Jeff stood up and immediately regretted agreeing to come to this dance. Tears spilled on my cheek as Akshay joined Jeff who was storming towards whoever just told that. Oh, that was Jake. “WHAT DID YOU SAY?!? ASSHOLE! GO HOOK UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE AND LEAVE HER ALONE!” I heard Jeff scream and punched Jake. HE fell on the floor, his cheek already a light shade of purple. I got up and ran towards Jeff, pulling him by the sleeve and held on to his forearm. “Its okay, Jeff. Stop it. I’m used to it. You promised me a good time here and that doesn’t mean you getting hurt,” I pleaded him, and his features softened and he cupped my face, “I’m sorry. I don’t like it when anyone calls you that. You’re not a slut,” he said and wiped the tears that were threatening to fall of his eyes. “Come on, we’ve got a song to dance to,” Akshay pulled us back to our table where Irene, sat beside me asking if I was okay. “Are you okay?” someone turned me around and shook my shoulders. My vision blurred from all the shaking but I recovered soon to see Adam. Oh, he was here. “Yeah, I’m alright, got to go now, see you later,” I mumbled and turned away. Jeff waved Adam off and intertwined his fingers with mine. “I promised you a good time, and that’s what you’re getting tonight,” he said and pecked my forehead. I heard faint music getting louder as everyone stood up with their partners to the dance floor. Akshay and Irene stood up wand slowly walked toward the dancing crowd. “May I have this dance with you, Layla?” Jeff asked and I took his hand and smacked it. “Stop being so cheesy!” I playfully scolded him. “Only for you,” he said and I blushed. He held my hand securely and brought me to the centre of the dance floor. Everyone made way for us, and once we reached the spotlight, Jeff laid his hand on my waist, and we danced gracefully.
Jeff’s P.O.V
I screwed up. Jake called her a slut and I hit him. What now? His bad. But I promised Layla a good time, and I didn’t want to waste any time so I brought her to the spotlight on the dance floor. She danced gracefully. I took my time as I danced to take in her features. She had silver hair extensions on, probably what my aunt borrowed her for the night. She smelled different, like the ocean or something. Her hair was brought up to a bun that looked like a flower, which was really pretty. She had very light make up on, and she looked taller today with the shoes we bought the other day. I didn’t realize that she was staring at me too, because when our eyes connected, she dropped her head and blushed. No, that didn’t stop me from burning my eyes onto her. I took in every little detail of her. Her light pink lipstick, a few strand of hair that fell off her face, little freckled that spread across the bridges of her nose, her earrings, the chain, everything. She was so beautiful, that you cannot get tired of looking at her. She brought me back alive, every second I’m with her. There is a lot more that I have to discover from this beautiful girl in front of me, her eyes dim but still alive as we danced across the floor. She brought her lips between her teeth, self consciously, and that’s when I did it. I kissed her. I cupped her cheeks in my hands and kissed her. I could literally feel the shock from her when I brought my lips to her, but that didn’t nothing to stop me. She recovered quickly and relaxed and kissed me back. Her hands moved on to my hair, twisting it with her fingers, and I brought my hands to her waist and wrapped my hands securely around them. I heard loud ooh’s and aah’s around me, and we continued to kiss. My tongue explored her mouth and our tongue danced as our feet did too. I felt her smiling though the kiss, and we stopped, breathless. I laid my forehead on hers and whispered, my hands still on her waist, and her arms around my neck. “I love you, baby. So much. Not just as your best friend. No, I love you like how drunk man love his alcohol, or how a addict will love his crack, because I’m the addict and you’re my drug. You know I suck at explaining and describing but I really really want you to know that, you’re all I need to move on. No anything else. You’ve been with me through all my times, and I want to show you how much that means to me. How much you mean to me. I don’t know how to put this in words, except that all I can do to prove to you is this,” I said and crashed my lips with hers and moved with the flow of the dance. The look of admiration in her eyes stood before my eyes as I kissed her deeper and deeper. The crowd was cheering on us, and I was satisfied that I gave her the best night of her life. She pulled away, and laid her head on my chest as we continued to dance. “I love you, Jeff. I did. I knew it was you all along. And I know it will be you till the end of time,” she said, and a drop of tears dropped on my tuxedo. I lifted her chin, and cupped her cheeks with my hands and said, “Now, you’re being cheesy,” I told her and she chuckled and smiled at me. I decided it was the time and knelt down before her, and pulled the red velvet box from my box and she gasped, staring at me. “No, god no. I’m not asking you for a marriage proposal. We’ve got high school and college to finish. This isn’t a ring either. It is a promise bracelet, will you be my girlfriend?” I told her while kneeling. “Yes! Yes! I love you!” she said, and I took her hand and slipped the bracelet on. I secretly bought the bracelet for her when we went shopping the other day. Everyone around us cheered, and Akshay and Irene came running towards us, and embracing us both in a huge hug. All I could do was smile at Layla, and pecked her on the lips on last time before going back to the table.
