DEALING WITH SOLEVAN

CHAPTER SEVEN
"Mom" I held the handset to my ear as I traced the border of the window. My eyes turned around looking at the ornaments. Fingers trailed along the edges of the cupboard that those vases were placed on. It had been how long? I once made the attempt to beautify the house with white roses. The house looked as if the same as it was before I walked out with my luggage the other time.
"I heard from Jayden's security manager. I will help you pack up some necessities that you need so that they can bring it over"
My legs stretched out as I sat against a wall, "Thanks Mom"
"Are you're okay?" Her voice was filled with concern.
I shook my head, "Not sure. I felt like I am not the one in control."
"If you want to come back, just let us know."
I gulped, "I'm fine. I will figure it out"
The call ended. I stood back up, walking to the kitchen where I spent most of the time previously. My eyes watched the cabinet where I would prepare the meals for Jayden. Most of the time, I spent here alone baking pastry when I got the whole house to myself. I folded my arms, smirked at how pathetic I was. Jayden circled his hands around my waist from behind. I got startled at his sudden action, "Are you reminiscing about the past?"
I loosened his grip, turned around. My eyes gazed at the man, wondering how many times I have watched him looking at me in the past. And how many were those eyes set for another woman, seeming looked like me or shared a name similar to me. I let out a sigh, vice versa, it should be the other way. If not for her, there wouldn't be me standing here.
"Why are you looking at me in this manner?" He caressed my cheek, as his eyebrow frowned at my conflicting expression.
I held in a deep breath, "I want to know her"
"What?"
"I want to know..." My eyes lowered at the grip I had held on his hands," about you and Anna's past."
He let out a sigh.
I bit my lips, "I can't stop my curiosity pacing at the gate of the memories that you had with her. I want to know... what kind of love could make you stood in front of all who judged your choice and still could hold her hands for so long..."
His hand held mine as he put it on his chest, "If there is anything that matters, it's that kind of love had become a history, and that my heart now only beats every second for you"
My eyes turned sour, as I pleaded, "But it was a big part of your life and I want to know that part of you."
He crushed me back into his chest. I felt the heart fluttered in that intimacy. That warm, broad chest was addictive. I shut my eyes, laying against his chest as his hands hugged me tight. Jayden breathed in deeply as he let out a soft sigh, "I am scared that it would hurt you and make you leave me again"
I held his hands, admiring Jayden's beautiful eyes who now only had eyes for me. "You know why I left before. I left because you didn't love me."
"You walked out from me when we are supposed to marry in that garden of white roses."
I frowned, not knowing if I should tell him what happened exactly. Will he believe me? After all, she was once his dearest girlfriend that he had attempted to protect her with all his might. My cowardice would keep me mum from the threats. I didn't want to face any disappointment that Jayden wouldn't trust what I said. My lips raised on both ends, as my eyes wandered back into those eyes feared of losing me. "And I am still here."
Jayden's grip was still tight. "I can't... risk any chance to see you walk out from me again."
"I am not going anywhere." I shut my eyes, as I lay my head against his chest.
--
The next day Jayden had left work in the morning as usual. I lazily still laid in the bed scrolling through the social media on my phone. The news about us reconciling was all over the place. There wasn't any social media platform that I can't find the news on the headline. Just then, the doorbell rang hard. Who could it be?
After cloaking myself with the bathrobe, I walked down to get the door. A string of knocks could be heard as a female voice was heard, "Annie!"
Frowned at the familiarity, I unlocked the door as I welcomed the lady that was standing in front. Her long wavy hair laid beautifully on her shoulder. My lips raised at both ends, "Mel" Jayden's half-sister, Melissa Solevan. As bubbly as she was, Melissa hopped into the house. Her eyes wandered at the surrounding, "It still looks the same"
I gave a slight nod, "Do you want some drink?"
Melissa turned to me, "Don't you have work today?"
I chuckled, "If so, why are you here?"
"It was... supposedly your wedding yesterday" She eyed at me in concern. Of course, she was required to attend the wedding being the family member of Jayden's. Since she didn't have to go, she would know the wedding was cancelled.
I let out a sigh, walked over to the kitchen and started heating up water in the electric kettle. My hands folded, stood resting on one leg as I gazed at her. "How did you know I had moved back?"
Melissa walked over, sat on one of the high chairs as she leaned forward. "It's all over the news. Jayden wouldn't miss this opportunity to bring you back."
"Your brother still doesn't tell you much even you're the only sister he had"
"He always emphasized that I am his half-sister" She pouted her lips, "It's like he is seeing my mom as the third party, breaking his family apart"
I raised my eyebrow, "Jayden lost his mother at an early age. Old Solevan married your mother years later"
"Yeah. That's a fact" Melissa nodded, "But he never sees it that way. I never seen him being warm towards the family ever since I arrived in this world"
I stretched over, patted on her hands. "Tea for you?"
Her eyes glanced over, "Sure"
We sat at the sofa which were situated in the centre of the living hall. Melissa held the cup, sipping it as she asked, "Just what happened? Didn't you agree to the proposal? Why all of the sudden the wedding was cancelled."
"Mel..." I bit my lips, unable to direct my glance at her. Should I tell her? What if she decided to tell Jayden about it? Jayden would be furious to know I have not trust him enough to make him hear things from a third party, especially his half-sister that he never wants to acknowledge.
She put down her cup, her hand held mine, "I know you love my brother. Shouldn't that be enough to overcome anything that come in the way?"
I let out a sigh, "If it was that easy enough."
"Tell me what is it." Melissa persisted, "Maybe I can help"
