CHAPTER TWENTY
I stood at the entrance, looking at the empty apartment. It has already been three weeks. I let out a sigh. And Jayden is now missing. His disappearance has caused so much chaos in the company. Humans were after all humans. Being selfish and greedy is in our nature. There will be people that hungers for power, and Roy was no exception.
Wheeling my luggage to the living room, I took a seat on the sofa. My eyes stared in spaces. I held my forehead as tiresome worn me. I was supposedly taking the flight to a foreign country, start afresh, attend interviews and making new friends. But now, I was back here as the fiancée of Jayden to take care of the chaos that was happening in his company. But is it worth it? I let out a long sigh. I don't know. But one thing that I was certain was I couldn't walk away.
Just then the door bell rang. I looked up with my lips raised on both ends. It must be Mom. I had updated her about the change of my plan. And she said she would come and visit me. I approached the door as I excitedly reached for the grip. Just as the wooden door opened, my eyes stared at the man who was standing, drenched. Jayden!
He held up his head, panting heavily, "It's... been a while..."
As I reached out for him, Jayden fell onto his knees. My eyes widened, shocked. Without any hesitation, I pulled him to stand up as I supported him to living room. Jayden crushed on the sofa. His head leaned backwards, taking a deep breath.
My palms felt sticky. I slowly lifted my hands up, and noticed blood smeared all over my hands. Eyes turned back to his black coat. I stretched over to touch his coat again where I had just held him. More Blood. "W-What happened? I should call the ambulance-"
He grabbed on my hand. Jayden shook his head as he struggled, "C-Call Doctor Kim..."
And he fainted. I froze as I stood, confused. I took a deep breath. Calm down, Annie. Do as he told you. My trembling fingers reached out for my phone as I nervously dialed Doctor Kim's cell number.
After moments later, Doctor Kim came hurriedly with his male nurse. With the help of the male nurse, they managed to carry Jayden to the second floor. I stood beside nervously. Once they laid him on our queen-size bed, the male nurse started taking off his black coat. With only his white shirt on, the wound became obvious. I held my breath as I gasped at his injury. Just what had happened to him? Why is he so badly injured?! There were what looked like cuts on his chest and waist.
They continued to take off his white shirt before treating all the wounds. After they had finished bandaging his wounds, Doctor Kim walked over with a packet of medicine.
I held it in my hands as I asked, "Is he okay? Does he need to go to the hospital?"
Doctor Kim frowned, "Did he insisted to ask me come over?"
I nodded.
He let out a sigh, "Then you should keep mum about Jayden being here and injured."
My eyes widened, and confused. "Why? He should be going to the hospital and get treated, isn't it?"
"He should have but it seemed like he had some reservations about that right now. I will do my best to make sure he gets recovered as soon as possible." Doctor Kim looked straight into my eyes, "But before then, do not let anyone know that he is here."
I uttered, "But..."
"Whenever Jayden called for me, he always wanted to kept it hush" He gestured those medicine that were in my grip, "These are some pain killers and antibiotics. The prescription is written on the label. I will come over tomorrow to check on him. For now, just make sure he doesn't catch a fever. If anything happened, you can reach me via my cell number."
"Okay..." I turned over and looked at Jayden. He was still in an unconscious state.
Letting out a soft sigh, I walked Doctor Kim and the nurse to the main door. After sending them off, I headed back to the room. Eyes filled with worries, as I sat down watching that pale-stricken face. I held a piece of towel, as I wiped off the pearls of cold sweats engulfing his forehead.
Just then, Jayden's eyes blinked and opened, slowly focusing on my face. "Annie..."
I grabbed his hand on instance. Jayden smiled, "You looked pale."
"You looked terrible"
He chuckled weakly but coughed instead. I watched him nervously, "Do you need anything? You want some water?"
Jayden shook his head, "I am fine..."
I blabbered. "Just what had happened? Why did you disappear for three weeks and come back covered in blood? What's the secretive of asking Doctor Kim? Why can't you just go to the hospital and have a proper treatment?"
His palm held out, cupping my face. "So... many questions... Which one should I answer first?"
I sobbed, "I am sorry... I am sorry for having so much of doubts. I should have asked you anything. I shouldn't have let you walked out that night. If I haven't had done of all those things, you wouldn't have been in this state right now. It's all my fault..."
"Hush" He held his hand over my lips, "As long as you are here, it doesn't matter anymore."
I gulped, "Jayden... tell me... what happened to you?"
He tried to pull himself up from lying. I reached for the pillow to sat up straight for him to prop against. Jayden turned to me with those pair of soft eyes "I was sad, terribly upset about us. Emotions just took over me when I left here and drove away. The next thing I knew, I was already in my private jet with the pilot flying in the air"
He continued, "I didn't know what happened afterwards. A sudden loud bang was heard before the jet dived down to the grounds. When I regained consciousness again, I was lying on a bed in a very run-down hospital."
"And it seemed like the plane crash wasn't an accident" He added, "Not long after I woke up, some strangers came to the hospital in attempt to kill me. If not for the villagers living there who came to rescue me, I would have been stabbed to death"
