After a long morning I met up with Archie again and we walked to the lunch room, Jared walking with us with earbuds in his ears.
"Everything you said during home room, all true?" Archie asked me.
"In a summary, yeah." I stated.
"Well your life must be just another adventure, one after another." Archie said.
"You have no idea." I said, thinking of all the trouble I got in back home.
"And the girl?" Archie asked.
"Oh please not you too." I said.
"Hey, Valentina has been my best friend since we could both walk, believe me I get all that teasing too." Archie said. Nether of us said anything for a few seconds. "Do you think Jared and Valentina like each other?" Archie asked me suddenly.
"You're asking me?" I asked him, answering in a question.
"Sometimes a stranger sees things before friends do, though I wouldn't exactly call you a stranger anymore." Archie said.
"I don't know, but aren't you worried about Jared, I mean he's right here." I asked Archie.
"He's listening to his music, let him be in peace." Archie said.
"I think they could, but I could be wrong." I said, not exactly trying to pick sides.
"Is it weird to not want your best friends to date each other?" Archie asked. I thought of what if Melody and Minho dated. The thought put a knife in my stomach.
"Not weird at all." I said more honest than anything I had said all day.
"I think I'm being selfish though." Archie said, as though I hadn't said anything.
"Maybe you just have to role with it." I said.
"And not have a plan?" Archie asked.
"Are you the type of person that needs a plan for everything they do?" I asked Archie. Archie shook his head up and down. "Yeah, I think this is one of those times you just have to role with it, don't get in the middle of it, and just see how it plays out." I told him honestly.
"Thanks man." He said.
"No problem." I told him.

I got off the bus after the long school day and started towards the house, wondering what in the world I was going to do with Freedom. Homework was out of the question, so I would actually have to do something with her. Something that wouldn't get us in trouble, or too much trouble. I unlocked the door and walked inside. I walked into the kitchen to find a snack. Freedom was already sitting there eating a green pear. I took an apple and went to wash it.
"I've been told we need to stay out of trouble." Freedom told me.
"Yup." I replied.
"So how do we stay out of trouble?" Freedom asked me.
"I'm not the right person to ask." I told her. We didn't say anything for a few seconds. "Are you bored?" I asked her.
"Very." She replied.
"Let's go do something stupid." I told her.
"Good idea." She replied.
Soon enough we were sitting at the top of the staircase in a large plastic box. We each had one of West or Isaac's helmets from whatever sport they were used for. Freedom was in front of me, while I was behind her, our knees pulled up.
"You've never done this before?" Freedom asked.
"Not with siblings, the only house I lived in with stairs was the one in Chicago and I didn't do that kind of stuff with the people I lived back then." I told her. I didn't feel like explaining everything to her, it's not like she had explained anything herself.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Let's do this." I said.
"Push!" She shouted. I pushed against the wall, sending us down the stairs with many bumps and thumps. We shouted random words as we raced down the staircase before stopping with a large stump. We didn't say anything for a few seconds. "Again?" Freedom asked.
"Again." I confirmed. For the next hour or so, we went down the two staircases in the house. We went up and down without a care in the world.
"Freedom? Kyle?" Someone called into the house.
"Don't move-"
Freedom didn't get to finish her sentence before we launched into the air, thumping down the stairs.
"What the-"
This time we had a much sudden stop as we crashed into West and Isaac. West looked down at us, looking as though he couldn't decide if he was going to yell at us or not.
"I thought you guys were told to stay out of trouble." West finally said.
"This isn't getting in trouble," I insisted "this is just being stupid."
"Fair enough, get out I want a ride." Isaac said.
"Is that my football helmet?" West asked.
"Safety first." Freedom said. Isaac took the helmet from Freedom's head and he and West brought the box to the top of the staircase and loaded up. Soon all four of us were taking turns racing down all the staircases. We didn't stop until we were caught in the action when Mom, Steve, Jillian, Nicky, and Ashley walked in the house. All four of us were squished in the box. Nether Mom or Steve said a word. Jillian and Nicky just silently took their phones out and took a picture without a word.
"Get out, I want a go." Steve said. I sure was going to have a hard time using this as an excuse for why I didn't do any homework today. It was Friday though, what was I complaining about?

Author's Note
This chapter is a little bit shorter, however, next chapter will be SOOOOOOOO short. I'm sorry. So sorry.
Any thoughts on this chapter?
I think it was just a little sibling/family time that was really needed. We can't have everyone being mad at each other this whole time before Kyle leaves now can we? No we can't.
Am I the only one who will get Baby Name Books to look for character names? Or is that a strange thing I just do?
