"Head count, again!" Mom called through the airport. The Reeds, Alice, Max, Minho, Michael, Mike and Macy had come in last night, and now we were up at six AM, trying to board our flights. I went over to Alice, who was counting everyone she had the tickets of. We had to split up into groups for this trip, there were too many people.
Mom took Jillian, Nicky, Ashley and Freedom.
Steve took West and Isaac.
Mrs. Reed had Mina, Melody, Zach, Jake, and Jazzy.
Mr. Reed had Kelley, Albert, Rose, Jack and Lilac.
Max had Leah, Michael and Mike.
Alice was left with Minho, Macy and I.
Each of us returned to our adult, so we could make sure that we had everything.
"My friend is a pilot, and he's taking a light aircraft with him to Oregon. He offered to take a few of the kids for the ride," Steve said. Minho and I turned to Alice.
"PLEASE!" we both tried. Alice looked over at Max, Max nodded his head, before turning his head to Mike, who wanted something.
"Fine, you two can go," Alice said.
"We're going!" Minho told Steve.
"Ok, we can take one more person. Isaac do you want to go?" Steve asked.
"I hate planes and you want me to go on a smaller, bumpy one that I can't puke in every two seconds?" Isaac asked.
"What about you West?" Steve asked.
"Nah, I've already gone once," West said.
"Melody, can you come?" I called over to Melody. Melody turned to her parents. After some debating, a smile spread on Melody's face.
"Can I come, Mr. Dager?" Melody asked Steve.
"I don't see why not, I'll tell Water that you three will be coming with him. Just take your backpacks, we'll bring your suitcases on the big airplane," Steve told us. Steve texted someone on the phone, looked up and then waved over to someone. A man in a pilot's uniform came over to us.
"These three are coming?" Walter asked us.
"Yeah, they are," Steve said, "this is my step son, my step daughter's soon to be adoptive son and my step son's best friend. Kyle, Minho and Melody."
"I'm so glad that you three decided to come with me, it's going to be great!" Walter said with a large smile on his face. Mom told Steve that their plane was being called soon.
"What do we do with the extra tickets now?" Mom asked Steve.
"Oh here," Walter said. He scribbled something on the tickets. "Tell them that, and they'll give you a refund on the three tickets."
"Thank you," Mom said to Walter.
"No problem, now you three, we better go," Walter said.
In half an hour we were in the air craft, ready for take off. We were strapped in tight, all ready to go.
"I'm SO excited!" Melody said, jiggling all around.
"I hope this is going to be ok," Minho said.
"Why wouldn't it be?" I asked.
"Eh, just worried. Haven't been on a plane before," Minho said.
"Ohhhh yeah, I forgot about that," I said.
"Yup, we've driven everywhere since I came with you guys and my Dad never took us out so..." Minho trailed off. No matter what, Minho wouldn't ever talk about his dad. Never.
"Ready for take off?" Walter asked.
"Ready!" we all responded.
