The Big Day (Part 8)

A bunch of games were played, but I only remember one of them to be honest. That's the one were all the unmarried ladies go behind the bride, and the bride throws her bouquet of flowers. My mother turned around and threw her bouquet up high in the air. It sailed in the air, almost like it was aimed straight for her, right into my sister's open arms. Everyone at the table turned around and stared right at Max.

"So Max?" Minho asked.

"Anything to say?" Melody asked.

"Anything at all?" I asked him.

"Nothing at all." Max said, his face redder than the strawberries that Minho and I had eaten. "Not yet anyway." He added softly. We all snapped back at him, after turning away.

"Really? Really truly?" Melody asked, a smile larger than Jupiter covering her face.

"Ok guys just shut up ok?" Max asked us. We turned away, leaving him alone after a few more questions, but he truly didn't drop anything else. I looked back at Max, wondering if the thought had come across his mind. Alice looked at Max, the flowers in her arms and her eyes sparkling. I looked between them, it was something they had both thought about. Even if they didn't know it yet, but they had been both thinking about it.

The party was done soon enough, Minho insisted I tell my mom about the whole Melody and Jacob thing, but even though I didn't like the whole situation, it was her wedding. Mind you her third one, but her wedding. She looked so happy, more than I can say about the one where she married Patrick. Frankly if she told me they were both drunk during it, I wouldn't be surprised.

The family party was a whole other story. This was a big deal apparently. All the girls had to get dressed in a new dress, and they would each be showed off in some way or another as Steve explained it. Only family and close friends were invited, so I was surprised when I found out that the Reeds were also invited. So at 9 PM we went to the large ball like room. All the men went in first and just socialized. The married couples came in soon afterwards, without much notice. There was free food, and chocolate covered strawberries. Let's just say that Minho and I just about ate them all.

I mean this is the best of ways, but when Steve saids ball, he means a ball. The ball that you see like in Cinderella and in Frozen. I've seen those a million times, I mean totally because of the sisters I have in the house, but I mean I know what a ball is. This was a full on ball. All the guys were still dressed the same way they were at the wedding, and good thing we were, because anything less would have been underdressed. All the girls were to walk in through the front door, they told their name to the announcer and then the announcer said their name. After their name was said, they would have to walk down a long, wide staircase that was pearl colored. It was pretty much straight out of a movie.

"Why is this such a big thing?" I asked West awhile later.

"Well you see, lots of friends are invited, everyone always says is close friends, but they pretty much invite everyone in existence. The deal is that if you're not family, they want you to become family." West told me. It took me a few long seconds to get it.

"So this is basically displaying girls so that guys will want to dance with them and hopefully they're already not related and with luck they'll hit it off?" I asked West.

"Basically, we invite family further than fifth cousins and all their friends too. It's bigger than the actually wedding party to be honest." West told me.

"Do they think that actually works?" I asked him.

"Well that's how my parents met, so I suppose it does work." West said. He gave me a small smile, before walking away.
