It had been six months since D had seen her boyfriend kill his parents. Her boyfriend, James, had been bitten by the monsters of the world. The world had been infected with a virus that turns humans into either mushrooms or squid like monsters. D had seen James get corrupted by his own father's radiation protection chip. Except the chip was what was causing the virus in the first place. D had been bitten multiple times by James after he was infected but she had never turned into one of those monsters.
D had been wondering through a desert for a couple days now, and she couldn't find any people that hadn't been infected. One those particular day though she had seen a large metal spaceship like structure in the desert. Before she entered it D heard a growl come from behind the front door, so she ran around to the side and hid in a cellar. One of the monsters walked by but it was wearing coat that read, Fight for the life of J///////. D ducked down into the cellar, "Why could they not just be zombies?," said D as she slid down a little hole.
Suddenly, the floor cracked beneath D revealing a giant four hundred foot drop into an underground mall. D's shirt got stuck on a rod coming out of a wall as she fell down the hole. She pulled out a knife and a small rope from her backpack. She tied the rope around the rod and cut her shirt, revealing her back, D patched her shirt back up for the tenth time. D wrapped the rope around her body and lowered herself down to the floor of the mall.
It was completely silent in the mall as D walked around. Every once in awhile she would hear the merry go round song start to play. Plus the power would come on every couple of minutes. Old fire pits and "hobo" homes were scattered around the mall. D got inside one of the computer stores and set up her sleeping bag. The merry go round played one last time before all of the lights suddenly cut out. D looked around, shadows surrounded her. D pulled out her bow and arrow and held it up to one of the shadows. "Stay back Maddie," D changed position, "Eric, stop!" The shadows moved closer and grabbed D by the neck.
D woke up suddenly on her sleeping bag in the little blanket house. Just a dream, thought D to herself. D stood up and looked around to see if she saw anyone. Small footsteps could be heard all around. D put her bow around her bag and pulled out a small pistol out of her back pocket. She loaded the pistol with four bullets and stepped outside of the hut. Six of those monsters walked around. Four of them were squid like, the two others were mushroom like and attached to the wall.
D pulled the trigger, pointing the gun at one of the mushrooms. The silencer on the gun stopped the other monsters to notice. D grabbed her pillow from her sleeping bag and put it in the head of a squid monster to muffle the sound of a shot. After about five minutes and fighting the monsters D had killed them all. D lowered the gun and put it in her bag. D looked around for an exit, but her rope had been cut from on top. D pulled the last thing in her bag, a small metal claw she had found when James had turned. She tied it around the cut rope, and threw the claw up to the top of the mall. The claw hooked onto the roof. D wrapped the rope around her again and pulled herself up.
Once on the roof D pulled up the rope after her. Pulling out the pistol again, she unloaded the bullets and filled the magazine with the rope. Also she put the claw in the front of the pistol nod ran the rope through the barrel of the weapon. "God... You only think of this now," came a voice from the shadows.
"Who's there?," questioned D.
"A friend," said the voice.
"Reveal yourself!"
"I am Ze sister," said the voice in a hard Russian accent.
The person shuffled around for a second then disappeared. D picked up her bag and started to crawl out of the mall. Suddenly, a growl came from behind her. D started to climb faster but monsters started to follow her. D started to climb as fast as she could up the slope. The monster started to climb up after her and were gaining on her. One of the monsters slid on the mud knocking down two others, but three were still gaining in on D. One jumped up into the air directly above D. It fell down in front of D, and it grabbed D arm and started to flail her around. A loud growl came from above her. When she looked up she saw a giant monster whose hand was the size of the mall. A smaller monster sat on the Giant's shoulder, and it growled once again.
