I sat on the bench, my legs shaking. Buffy was rubbing my knee. She had given up giving me pep talks three minutes ago when I couldn't focus on responding. The plan was to tell Andi it wasn't working out. And then either move onto "Hey, I'm bisexual!" if she was seeming like she hated me, or be like "Hey, I have a crush on your best friend!" if she was seeming a-okay.

I saw her start to run down the hill to where Buffy and I were sitting. I felt my heart rate increase. Buffy realized and moved her hand from my leg to my back, rubbing it an whispering in my ear. I couldn't hear what she was whispering, all I could hear was me internally screaming. Andi smiled and waved as the came over, then sat beside me on the bench. She must have seen the fear in my eyes as I looked at her because her smile dropped.

"What's wrong?" She asked, completely turning towards me.

My throat tightened and all I could say was, "Umm..."

Andi leaned forward and looked at Buffy. "He has something to tell you," she said, prompting me.

"What is it?" Andi asked, looking back at me.

I took a deep breath. "We need to break up," I blurted out.

Andi looked shocked and I cursed myself for being so abrupt. "That sounded a lot worse than I meant it," I said.

"You think?" Buffy growled in my ear.

"I just-" I started. "I just don't think this is working out. We were so much better together as friends. And I think I like someone else." I looked down at my legs.

"Who?" She asked.

I didn't answer. She stood, and when I looked up at her, she had rage in her eyes. "It's Buffy! You two are together?" She yelled.

"No!" Buffy and I both groaned standing up. Buffy walked over to Andi and out an arm around her shoulder. I took a deep breath, calming my body.

"It's Cyrus," I said.

Andi's eyes widened and she covered her mouth. I couldn't tell if she was mad or happy.

"Are you serious?" She asked.

I nodded and looked down at my feet.

"I don't know whether to be mad or happy," She said laughing. "Wait, are you gay?"

"No!" I groaned, running my hands through my hair. "I think I'm bisexual."

A smile creeped on her face. "Are you going to ask him out?" She asked.

I shrugged. "I'm going to try."

She clapped and laughed, giving me a hug. "He's going to be so happy!" She said, the sound muffled in my shoulder.

I felt overjoyed that this worked out so well. Andi was so excited and couldn't stop talking about how cute Cyrus and I would be. We sat in the park for an hour and a half, until the sun set in the fall sky, talking about Cyrus, Cyrus and I, Buffy and Marty, schoolwork, and who we have to set Andi up with now. I started getting more excited by the second. They had reassured me that Cyrus would 100% say yes to me, but I wanted it to still be all romantic. A real, adult relationship. We'd go on dates and whatever. I was going to ask him the next day if he would want to go somewhere sometime with me. Like the movies or bowling. Maybe not somewhere with hand-eye coordination and heavy balls and slippery floors. Maybe we'll go mini golfing. That's good.

I should probably tell my mom.
