I checked my phone. It was 1 am and I was still up working on my science homework. I rubbed my eyes and shut my laptop, forcing myself to go to sleep. I had just closed my eyes when I heard my phone ring. My body turned itself over, snapping my eyes open and I threw my hand onto my phone, checking the caller. Cyrus.

I wondered why he was awake so late. He might have been calling to apologize or ask for help on the science homework. I answered the phone and held it to my ear. "Hello?" I croaked.

I heard him breathing on the other line, sobbing. I sat up in bed and said louder, "Cyrus?"

"Yeah?" He asked.

"What's wrong?"

I heard him cry more. "Walker broke up with me." More crying.

I felt a wave of relief wash over me and the corners of my mouth curl up into a smile. But then I heard Cyrus crying and immediately felt bad for him. "Really?" I asked, throwing emotion into my voice. "That's awful."

He cried a bit more before responding, saying, "Yeah, and I didn't even see it coming," in between sobs. I did.

I could feel myself start to cave and I truly felt bad for Cyrus. Walker really was a jerk and I couldn't believe that he would betray Cyrus like that, and break his heart. I stayed on the phone with him for a while, just nodding my head and listening to him cry. But then, he remembered his phone curfew and didn't want to get in trouble so he quickly hung up and I felt my body immediately fall into sleep.

It was nice going to school and not seeing Walker tying Cyrus around himself, but of course that came with the price of Cyrus moping around with me all day. He didn't seem too upset that Walker broke up with him, but was just upset that someone dumped him. It was like he kept on trying to figure out why it had happened and what wasn't good enough about him. I finally told him to shut up because there was nothing wrong with him. I said, "You're amazing, Cyrus. And if Walker doesn't see that, he's an idiot."

He just blushed and rubbed his arm saying, "Thanks, Jonah."

It finally made him calm down, however he did start freaking out when we saw Walker in science class. But Walker didn't real pay that much attention to Cyrus, like he had pushed his plate aside now that he was done with it and moved onto something else. And that something else was me.

I was a bit weirded out about how Walker was acting. He wasn't really doing anything, just whenever I looked over he'd do something seductive, like wink or move his body in some strange way. But, after school, while I was at my locker, he came over and placed his hand on the locker beside me, leaning into my face. "So, what are you up to on Saturday?" He asked.

I looked up at him and blinked. "Excuse me?" I responded.

He slowly closed my locker with his other hand and moved in closer. Now he was about three inches away from my face. "This Saturday," he continued. "You wanna do something?" He shifted his hands from the lockers beside me to my waist and took another step closer. He would've kissed me if someone hadn't yelled his name and he turned to look. It was Cyrus.

He came running over and yelled, "What are you doing?"

I knew he was talking to me so I immediately started apologizing, saying, "I-I'm sorry, I wasn't doing anything."

Cyrus looked over at me and shushed me before turning back to Walker, who just said, "What?" Before shrugging and walking away.

Cyrus turned back in my direction and looked like he was in tears. I went over to him and wrapped my arm around him. "I'm sorry, I guess you were telling the truth about him," he mumbled.

I rubbed his back and said, "It's okay," before walking back over to my locker to finish getting out my stuff.
