At school, everyone smiled and waved. I talked to so many people and wondered what it might be like after they knew. After school, I jogged over to the field, relieved to see Cyrus there without Walker. I told him how I was planning on coming out to the team and he smiled wide, congratulating me. I called the team together and they all gathered around me, smiling.

"Um, so," I started. I couldn't get the words out of my mouth. I just kept looking at their smiling, oblivious faces. And I just couldn't do it. "We're going to start with some drills, so partner up and start passing," I yelled before smiling and walking back to Cyrus with my head down in shame.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I don't know," I said. "I just looked at them and then I couldn't do it."

He put his hands on my shoulders and looked into my eyes. "You can do it. Don't worry about them."

I looked at him and smiled again. I reminded myself why I was doing this. For Cyrus. To prove that I could. I thanked him before running off and joining the team.

Practice was over and everyone came over for our end of practice meeting. I told everyone that practice was great and everyone did amazing, and then said I had an announcement to make. They were still smiling at me and I looked from person to person, my eyes landing on Cyrus. He was smiling, too, but more of a supportive smile. I looked down at the dewy grass before clearing my throat. "I'm bisexual," I said.

It was silent for a few seconds before I looked up. Everyone's faces were stunned. Xander's was scrunched up. "Seriously, dude?" he barked.

I slowly nodded, saying, "Yeah."

He turned and started walking away, grabbing at the arms of others as he went. "C'mon, guys. We can't have a fag running the team."

Some people stared at me before turning and following Xander. I watched them walk away, feeling tears in my eyes. I felt Cyrus at my side and he wrapped his arm around me before leading me away. We were almost halfway to The Spoon before my phone started blowing up. The vibrations melted into my skin through the pocket of my sweatshirt and I pulled it out and watched the texts start rolling in. Gus said, "Seriously, dude? That's disgusting." Sophie said, "You're going to burn in Hell."

I had stopped walking and Cyrus came over and looked down at my phone. He grabbed it from out of my hands and shoved it into his own pocket before grabbing my hand and starting to walk.
