Can I go back in? (Part 1 Of The Family Series)

A new day a new Alec. After Clary left the day before, all Alec could think about was what Clary had said previously. The words repeated in his mind like a broken record.
"Fine, but that was your only chance at getting the truth, what actually happened that night."
I need to know, he thought to himself, I'm going to find out the truth and nothing will stop me. He grasped his phone which lay silently on his wooden bedside table and tried to call Clary. The phone rang five times before it cut off on him, he tried again and again but ended up with the same results. Alec ran to her room to find something of Clary's that he could use to track her down with. He found her green puffy coat and then tried to track her. He stared at the back of his eyelids and concentrated as hard as he could, moments passed and there was still nothing. She could be with Magnus, behind his wards, he started, or at the jade wolf with Luke, or for a walk near a river. The thoughts of where she could be were endless. He tried calling Luke.
"Hello Alec," Luke sounded exhausted with the day already and it was only nine a.m, "what can I do you for now?"
"I was wondering if Clary was with you, or if you knew where she went." Alec asked, trying to sound concerned and not needy.
"Why does everyone expect me to know where Clary is, she's not exactly twelve. She can look after herself. I do think she's at magnus' apartment though she spent a lot of time there recently." Luke's voice raised slightly and then he hung up on Alec leaving a deadly silence around Alec. He grabbed his jacket and left the institute.

Being out in the street made Alec nervous so he used every short cut and shadow he could possibly use to get to magnus' apartment as quick as possible. When he finally reached the apartment he was sweating yet again. His palms were soaked and his shirt plastered to his body. He leaned against the brick wall outside to stop his legs from giving under his light body and Held his chest like his heart was about to explode. He heard the front door open so he his around the corner and activated his hearing and sight runes. Alec was shocked to see that Simon was leaving the apartment, but what would Magnus want with Simon. He listened closely to what he had to say.
"That was weird, why would Magnus turn off the lights and blind fold me just to tell me some stupid game rules.  Destroying people is was to drastic like. Clary was right." And then he looked around and stopped muttering to himself. Alec ran forward in attempt to catch up to Simon.
"Hey," Alec said as he placed a hand on Simon's shoulder, causing him to jump out of his skin.
"What do you want, and why are you near magnus' apartment?" Simon asked sounding scared for someone who's had known about the shadow world for a long enough time.
"Was looking for Clary, what about you Simon?"
"Magnus was asking about something kamile said when she first turned me. He is making noted on what her behaviour was like." He lied. His breath caught when he realised that Alec had bought the bait.
"Ok nice talking to you." At that, Alec left Simon in the middle of the street and had back to the institute.

Simon waited for Alec to turn around a corner before he headed back to magnus' apartment.
"I think Alec is onto you, you know."
"What do you mean, on to me?" He started. " That happened a long time ago." Clary rolled her eyes at him then gestured for him to carry on.
"He started asking me these suspicious questions like why I was here and where Clary was."
Magna stroked his chin and pretended to act like it was interesting.
"Jace will be back tomorrow hopefully, let's see if Alec can get him in his clutches or if Jace comes to us first.
"So what should I do about him Magnus?" Clary asked curiously. Her voice getting higher with excitement. "You know there's nothing you can't do in five inch heels right."
"A) don't quote issabele and B) I want you to make him talk to Alec without telling him our plans. This is definitely the best thing we have ever done. And the most expensive may I add."
