Jace was woke with the feeling of Clary's arms tightening around his stomach, he twisted around in he arms so he could face her and stared a moment. He began to fiddle with her hair as groaned softly and then spoke.
"Good morning," a whisper crept from her mouth.
"Good morning. Come on, get up I have got a surprise for you." He sat up slowly, taking in the light that drove through the blue curtains that hung in one of magnus' many spare rooms. Shortly followed by Clary, Jace refused to tell her the suprise which he had kept a secret for almost twenty four hours now.
"You're cheating on me with a duck aren't you?" She chuckled as Jace rolled out of bed screaming and bolted into the bathroom. She could hear fake gagging sounds coming from the bathroom and Clary quickly grabbed a suprise of her own and put it in front of the bathroom door. The door slowly opened and as Jace came out he kicked the surprise and screamed yet again, he fell backwards into the bathroom and wound up, head first, in the bath. Clary chased after him to turn on the cold tap and let Jace drag out his cursive language before dragging Clary in with him.
"A duck, really? You know I hate ducks, that's just not-" but before he could finish his sentence Clary stopped him with a kiss. She pulled away quickly and grabbed a towel to dry herself off with.
"Come on, hurry up Jace."

Dressed, Clary made her way back to Jace's room and knocked twice on his door. After a moment the door opened and Jace, shirtless, stood in the doorway.
"Tease" she called him as he threw in his shirt and dragged her to magnus. Magnus was stood at the kitchen counter drinking a cup of black coffee, he gestured for the two to get some as well. Jace grabbed two cups and poured them both black coffee and added lots of sugar, just the way that Clary liked it. They stood around for a while watching the news on the small television when they were interrupted by a breaking news sign. A blonde woman who looked about thirty five with way to much fake tan appeared on the screen.
"I bring you here to a small coffee shop known as 'Java Jones' as a man is holding the manager a gun point for a free coffee." Clary gasped as she heard the news and then hurried out of the apartment toward Java Jones.
"Mundanes" Jace sighs as he chased after Clary.

As they were sprinting down the streets, Jace had caught up to Clary and slowed down to her pace.
"You do know that the police can sort this right?"
"Yes, but this has been my safe haven since I was- too long ago alright. Please just help me. If anything more important comes up then we can do that." Jace nods in appreciation to Clary's request and carries on running. The streets were crawling with people near the train station and that's when Jace remembered that they were still visible.
"Wait up a sec." Jace stopped and dragged Clary down a small alleyway where they wouldn't be seen by anyone. "Hide yourself first."
She nods toward him and activates the runes they will need before squirming around people in utter silence. They neared the institute on their way past and as they got closer, Clary's phone began to ring disturbing those around them.
"What's the point in being silent if your phone's turned on?"
"Sorry," have chuckled to himself before carrying on their run.
"It can't be, Jace look!"Clary pointed to the top of the institute where someone was stood at the top. Clary ran at the institute to see who it was then fell to her knees when she found out. Tears streamed down her face as stared up at the roof. There's still time she yelled at herself, but outwardly she screamed, "wait here!"

The inside of the institute was busy compared to usual. Robert Lightwood and a couple other members of the clave were sat around a table discussing what they were going to do about a recent demonic attack on a group of mundanes who practiced a dark form of magic. Clary ran past them gaining a few odd looks she ran up to the top floor, taking the wooden status two at a time in hope that she could reach the top in time. Once she reached the top nobody was there. Nobody could have gotten back down, yet she was sure there was someone there. Jace even saw him, she thought. At that moment she saw them, running toward the edge as fast as they could. Clary held her breath hoping that she wouldn't witness a death, thankfully they stopped at the edge. They took the setup up to very edge where if the wind picked up, then their life would be swept away in an instant. All she could do was watch, she took small steps toward him so she could pull him back. As she did he leaned forward and off the edge.
"Alec!" Clary screamed as he disappeared from the roof.
