Chapter 33 – Everyone knows Demon Lords are prodigies at magic!

As I walked along the hallway, my glass shoes, courtesy of Ezekiel, clinking on the marble floor, whispers surrounded me all around.

"Who's that?!"

"So pretty..."

"...Is it a transfer student?"

"How is her hair so glossy..."

Boys had heart eyes, girls looked envious. I couldn't help but smile. It was that feeling I had been so used to before I embarked on my adventure. Except here, no one mentioned by weird no-eating habit...

Golden hair swaying behind me, I confidently walked to the end of the hallway, where someone had kindly informed me was the location of that person. There, grand double wooden doors stood tall and imposing. To the side, on a silver plaque, stood "Supreme Teacher/Principle, Cecile Lowell."

Someone sure thinks highly of themselves...

I quickly hid the smirk that emerged, going back to a laid-back smile. Then, knocked gently on the door.

"Come in!"

As the voice commanded, I opened the doors and stepped inside. From behind a grand wooden desk, a green haired woman, supposedly 'Cecile,' sat with a very bored look on her face, very different from the maniacally laughing one I had been used to...

"What is it now-"

In a bored tone, she began to speak. However, once she looked up at the innocently smiling me, she froze.

"Hello! Please let me introduce myself. My name is Ellie. I heard there was a very good magic teacher here, perhaps the best, and I was very curious!"

She just stared blankly at me as a spoke, until she heard "the best" and her eyes sparkled. Her attitude completely changed, chest puffed out in confidence, she nodded her head as if in agreement.

"That's right! There is no one more adept at magic than I, and therefore there is no one better at teaching magic than I!"

Seeming to have hit a nerve, I smiled even more, giving an innocent head tilt as well.

"I see...Than that leaves me no choice! I really must learn from you, miss. What must I do to enroll? I was told to come here, to your office..."

"Oh? Well, it is the middle of the term, enrollment is already finished and-"

Her enthusiasm gone, she began giving me the bad news, until she saw the tears welling up in my big azure eyes.

"I-I see...That's...very sad indeed..."

Looking down, I brought a hand up to my quivering pink lips, looking completely dejected. This shocked Cecile for a second. Then, regaining her composure, she cleared her throat and continued.

"However, far be it for me to turn away a student so willing to learn...The enrollment test will be prepared. However, you alone will be tested in front of all the students, and unless you have the potential for magic, you alone will fail in front of all the students. Are you prepared, miss Ellie?"

She now looked at me very seriously, her elbows leaning on the table as her fingers entwined themselves together in front of her.

At this, I couldn't help but smile, "Oh, there is no need to worry. Magic potential is not a problem."

It seemed like, for a second, she had shivered, but then an awkward smile came to her features as she said, "Okay, then. Be in the auditorium tomorrow at eight am sharp. You can do that, right...?"
