Chapter 2

Thea's POV

I entered the building expecting the empty hallway. I followed the signs and made my way to the office. A lady, probably in her thirties was sitting behind the desk, working on the computer.

I cleared my throat and said, "Excuse me, Miss"

She looked up and replied politely, "Hello dear, how may I help you?"

"Hi! My name is Thea John, I'm a new student here"

She beamed, "Oh Yes! Thea, Mr Novak said you were joining today. My name is Mrs Hall but you can call me Martha. Your schedule and other papers are with Mr Novak."

"Is he in his office?" I asked, pointing to the door behind her with 'Principal' written on it.

Martha nodded, "Yes, he has been waiting for you".

I thanked her and walked up to the door and knocked, I heard a faint 'come in' and walked in, closing the door behind me. He didn't look up from the file he was reading.

"Hey! Uncle tom, Missed me?"

He must have not expected me to come this early because with a confused look, he looked up at me and smiled, he stood up and started walking towards me and pulled me into a hug.

"Thea! I missed you honey! How are you?"

"I missed you too, Uncle tom. I am good and, how are you?" I replied, returning the hug.

He said while pulling back, "I am good, darling. Sit down", gesturing towards the chair opposite to his. I sat down and looked around his office. It was a nice big room with a desk in between the room, a window behind his desk that shows a good view of the field. There was a couch in right side of the room. On the left side of the room were couple of cabinets and a door, which I assume is the washroom.

Uncle Tom's voice snapped me out of my thought, "Here you go. This is your schedule and ID, which you will be required to show to your teachers". He gave me an envelope.

"Thank you, Uncle, without you I wouldn't have been able to do this"

"Anytime honey. You are like family and this is, after all, is your school only. Who am I to stop you from coming to your own school" he joked. I smiled and nodded. I looked at my schedule and beamed when I saw music in it.

"Erik told me you love music, so I took the liberty to add music as an extra curriculum. I hope you are ok with that?"

"Yeah, it's great. Thanks"

We talked for a bit about the school and about my family. Then he said, "Well it is almost half an hour till the school starts, so if you want you can explore the school, grab some coffee from the café, you know get to know the place so you don't get lost..."

"Yeah I think I'll walk around for a bit. Thanks, once again" I said. I waved at him and walked out of his office, smiling at Martha on my way out. I walked around the campus, noticing it was just like a typical high school with hallways having lockers for every student to keep their extra stuff. The school was divided in various section and the admin block was a part of the senior section. The various sections of the school were joined by the huge sports field. I grabbed a cup of coffee from the cafeteria and went outside in the field to sit at the benches. I took out my iPhone for my pocket and dialled Erik's number. After a few rings, he picked up.

"Hey baby sis, everything ok?" he asked, worried.

"Yeah, everything's good till now and thanks for adding Music in my schedule, I know you made that change." I said, teasingly

He laughed and said, "Your welcome baby sis"

Then I saw that people have started coming and said to Erik, "Hey it's time for me to go in now"

"Okay. Have a good day sis and good luck. Call me when you get home. Bye"

"I will bye" I replied and ended the call.

I finished my coffee and went back to the building. But this time there were many students in the hallway. Some of the students turned around and started whispering. Soon enough everyone was aware of the fact that I was new here. Just great.
