Chapter 29

Thea's POV

The next morning, we were on the road, right after breakfast just like we planned. It'll take us about half an hour to reach the city and probably 15-20 minutes more to reach Travis' place depending on the traffic but given the speed that Travis was driving at,  it seems like he wants to reach his home in half an hour.

"Look I'm all for cruising at a good speed and all but for the fifth time, SLOW THE HELL DOWN!", I said, yelling at the end while holding onto my seatbelt as if my life depended on it. Well it did.

"Relax! Would you? I'm an excellent driver. Plus, I'm not even breaking the hundred mark.", He replied, rolling his eyes.

What? Oh my god.

Instead of arguing about this anymore than I already have, I turned the sound of the music up and focused on the view, with a humph. I saw some beautiful meadows on the way which made me wish I had brought my camera and that I could stop and spent some time there. I felt the car speed coming back to normal and looked at Travis, startled.

"Okay okay, I'll drive slower."

I turned back to window, ignoring him.

"Don't ignore me kitten. C'mon."

"You know what? I DON'T LIKE CATS."

"So?"

"So? Don't call me kitten."

"Well too bad. I love calling you kitten. It suits you."

"I'll give you a nickname you hate too."

"Do your worst, Mi amor."

I didn't reply because one, I had no nickname for him in mind and two, the song Mad World came on the radio. I got side-tracked with the lyrics and started singing softly. I didn't notice until the song had ended, that Travis had turned the volume down.

He didn't say anything just focused on the road. I looked out too and realising that we had entered the city limits.

Thankfully there was not much traffic and soon he pulled up in his driveway. The Hunt residence was a big house in the gated colony with similar houses. The house itself was a beautiful white one with  Victorian style but had some modern touches. I have been to this house numerous times but the beauty of it always appeal to me.

We got out of the car and went up to the main door. Travis opened it for me to walk ahead and as soon as I was in, I was tackled into a tight hug. I could feel my hugger jumping and on recognizing, I started hugging her back, squealing a little.

I pulled back and saw Travis' sister and my childhood best friend, Delilah smiling widely.

"You weren't that happy to see your older brother, huh Lilah?", Travis said, rolling his eyes but laughing soon enough when Delilah jumped on him and hugged him tightly too. I could see the affection for his sister on his face as he hugged her back contently the same way, pulling her off the ground a bit. I laughed softly at scene. I looked around the room to give them some privacy, noticing the pictures on the wall. There was one of a little toddler version of Travis holding his baby sister on his lap, all too carefully. The picture was so sweet and innocent.

"Thea begged me to come along and me being the gentleman that I am, I couldn't refuse.", Travis' voice, pulled my focus back on them. Hearing my name, I turned towards them, only to see Travis smirking and Delilah giving a bored expression and signed, 'Oh please'.

One thing you should probably know. Delilah was born mute. I don't really know the exact reason why, all I know is that there were a lot of complications with her birth, due to which she can't speak except for some sounds but she does know the sign language and also uses an app which basically says whatever is typed in it or pre-stored. It was a challenge for the Hunt family at the start to adapt to this when Delilah was first diagnosed, from what my parents tell me. But I heard that Travis took it the hardest, not understanding as a toddler why his little sister won't talk.
