Chapter 6

I must have been very tired because when I woke up, it was dark outside. I looked at the clock on the wall and saw that it was 7p.m; I decided to get up because my brothers must be home by now and they would need details about my first day. I signed and got up from the bed; I didn't have any homework because it was the first day so I took a long shower and changed into a long white tee with a cute black panda printed on it with black shorts. I went downstairs to the living room cause that's where my brothers hang out. Our living room is quite big. On entering the living room, the sitting area is 4 to 5 steps down from the actual level. It gives a clear view of everything in the room from where I am standing; at the door. There is a bit space between the door and steps, on the left side there is a mini kitchen with food and drinks. On the right side there is a table and chairs for 4 people. A couple of stairs down is the actual sitting area. There is a couch in the centre with its back towards the door; two more couches on its side, faces each other with a big coffee table in between them. There is a 70-inch TV of the wall. The walls of the room are cream in colour and filled with tons of photographs.

My brothers haven't notice me yet because they were engrossed in their work. Erik was on his laptop, probably working, Aaron and Nathan were on their phoned texting while watching football match on the TV. I walked down the stairs and said, "Hey guys"

I went to each of them and gave them a kiss on the cheek and then settled down next to Erik on the couch that was on the left of the room, while Aaron and Nathan were sitting on the centre couch.

"Hey, how was your first day?" Aaron asked. Oh, here it goes

I told them about the day, how I met Diana and Stella, my encounter with Ashley, on which they were a little upset but were also proud that I stood up for myself. I somehow convinced them not to do anything about that or god knows what they'll do. According to them, I would have stood for it even if it was not to me and that I am just that 'type' of person. When I told them about my music class and the competition Emma talked about, they said in unison, "You are gonna take part, right?" Jeez

"Maybe"

"You should sis, you can sing really well" Nathan said

"You guys are saying that just because you are my brothers" I tried to argue with them, but the key word Tried. In the end, they ended up winning and made me promise that I'll take part in that competition. Well they didn't actually have to convince me that much cause I wanted to take part too. This was exactly the kind of experience that I wanted when I joined the school.

I actually did know that I can sing well, after all it is my favourite hobby, but my insecurities' get the best of me. I love to sing and even listen to songs; it helps me get things out of my mind and I express better what I am feeling through the type of music I am listening or singing. Only Aaron and I are into music, Nathan can sing too but he is not into music and Erik, well I haven't really heard him sing properly, if I did hear him sing a song or anything, he would always change his voice making his voice sound like, well horrible. Actually, it was Aaron only who gave me interest in music, I only liked to sing before but then Aaron taught me how to play instruments and my love for music blossomed.

I asked them how their day was. They all just replied with same shrugged and said, "Boring as hell" together. We talked about random topics for while then returned to do our own things. I don't know why but I am having a feeling that I am forgetting something. Hmm what am I forgetting about?

That's when I heard it, barking. Oh, I forgot about Ginger.

Ginger entered the room with a maid trailing behind her to catch her but Ginger had already reached me. I told the maid to go and leave Ginger here only. Ginger is our dog. She's a yellow Labrador with a cute little pink nose. I started to pet her, but then Aaron called her to him; she immediately went to him and sat next to him so he could pet her. Ginger loves attention and wants to play all the times. The story behind her name is actually quite interesting. When Erik first brought her home with a friend of his, I was not very happy because I was pretty scared of dogs or animals only in general. When we sat in the living room to decide her name, there were many options like any other person would keep for his/her dog's name but we wanted a unique one for ours. So, what seems like hours but actually was 30 minutes later, Erik's friend suggested Ginger because her fur coat was like the colour of ginger and thus her name became Ginger. After few months I grew fond of Ginger and now I just love her. It's great to have a pet because then you won't feel lonely.

After a while, I took Ginger for a walk in our garden then went to have dinner with my brothers. After having dinner, we decided to watch a movie and moved to games room. The game room has a pool table, ping-pong game, and some other games. In the centre of the room is the TV, where we usually watch movies or play video games, I know that my brothers are grown-ups and still play video games but in their defence there is no age for playing games and that they are not old enough to quit them yet. In front of the TV are the couches and bean bags for sitting. There are cabinets surrounding the TV filled with many, many movies and games. We decided to watch Transformers and Nathan played it. I think that I must have fallen asleep during the movie because when I opened my eyes, Nathan was placing me on my bed, he must have carried me here.

He kissed my forehead and whispered, "Good night, baby girl."

I smiled groggily and murmured a good night and fell asleep again.
