Chapter 30

Travis and I have fallen in our own routine the next couple of weeks. He has practise before school so he can't give me a lift, not that I want it either but he texts every morning before leaving, in case I have to leave early too and makes sure that he waits for me after school, if I ever decide to join him, feeling too tired to walk or something, which I have to say, has happened once already. The thing which intrigued me was how he got my number since I never gave it to him and when I ask him, his reply is always the same, 'I have my ways kitten' which could either mean that he got it from his sister or one of my brothers.

He even joins my friends and I sometimes for lunch too. I have to admit it's so much better to have him as friend-ish thing than as a bully. I have started seeing his caring and attentive side which I have to say is nice. We play games or watch something in the games room after school when we're free and I help him out with homework if he ever needs it, which doesn't make sense to me because it's very clear that he is a genius, since he caught on in all the classes pretty quickly and is already acing his class tests. I don't know what Sam was worried about, Travis seems to be settling in very well and hasn't gotten into any trouble that I know of. One thing which I was actually looking forward to was, to hear him play and I finally got to hear him when he had to perform in front of the whole class for his project which he got to do alone since everyone else was already done with it. It was the same one for which Tyler and I paired up. Travis played beautifully. The whole class was awestruck but I could see and make out easily how he let his emotions lead him while playing the guitar. The melody was easily one of the best that I'd heard.

Even though we have become friends, sort-of, Travis still hasn't really opened up to any of us about why his previous school is a sour subject. He is very good at diverting the conversation away from that particular topic. Which isn't the best, his diversions are not helping my curiosity.

On top of that, the thing with Uncle Tom is still a mystery. I haven't been able to talk to him about what happened that day. He's had a lot of meeting with the trustees of the school because of which it's difficult to get a meeting with him. I have considered talking to my brothers about it this weekend because if it's regarding the school, they'll wanna know if something was wrong. And seeing as it was a Friday today and we have an off tomorrow on account of some holiday, I'll have plenty of time.

"Why don't you guys invite your friends over tomorrow for a friendly football match? Travis can join you guys too if he wants and you'll make a day of it.", I said, as we all were sitting in the living room, watching a football match, as a matter of fact, which got me thinking about this idea, "This weekend being a long one will be a great opportunity to have some fun and unwind. "

Aaron and Nate looked at each other before they both turned to me, grinning. Erik was nodding anyways but was still typing away on his phone.

"Rik"

"Mmhmm?"

"What about you? Think you can take some time off tomorrow and join them?", I asked, thinking it'll be good for him.

He finally looked up from his phone and looked around at us, "Oh uh yeah, I'll have to move some things around but I think I need a timeout too so yes, count me in."

Travis had agreed too and they all turned back to their phone again, probably texting their group for tomorrow.

"Hey umm, I asked Tyler to come tomorrow too. You guys can get some strategic ideas from the guys coming, most of whom I know are good players.", I said to Travis, softly, who was sitting beside me on the couch.
