Chapter 19

Thea's POV

I left my brothers to their amusement and went to take a bath to get freshen up. After the bath, I wore a beige colour shorts with a loose black tee, which I might have taken from one of my brothers. I let my hair down loose, not really bothering with them. I decided to make the breakfast today as a way of saying thanks for taking care of me last night.

I went to the kitchen and told the cooks to take the time off. I also informed them that my friends will be staying for lunch as well. All of them went to the staff quarters, only one lady stayed back to help, in case I needed it.

I made grilled cheese sandwiches, bacon, fried eggs, omelettes , baked beans and toast. I put in a new pot of coffee for brewing. I may have gone a little overboard but breakfast is supposed to be like this.

Soon after getting everything done and setting up in the dining area. I see everyone coming down. My brothers are the first to reach the table followed by my friends.

"Good morning guys! I made the breakfast today." I greeted everyone. They all mumbled a quiet thank you before getting the food. I took a plate for myself as well.

"This is great Thi. Thanks." Diana said, and the others nodded.

After the breakfast, Tyler and I decided to practise our song once more before the final performance tomorrow in front of the class. In the music room, it takes about 15 minutes before Tyler is able to snap out of his stunned look and then we start practising. My brothers, Diana and Stella wanted to listen to it too since they haven't heard us before.

We sit on the high stools kept on the stage area with our own mics. Tyler starts strumming the chords and I close my eyes, tapping lightly on my thighs.

'Every night in my dreams
I see you; I feel you
That is how I know you go on.

.... You are safe in my heart and
My heart will go on and on'

Tyler and I finish the song and I open my eyes to see everyone's awed faces. I looked at Tyler and grinned. We high fived and that seems to trigger the clapping.

"That was so great you guys." Gushed Stella and Diana.

My brothers loved our performance too and then left the room to do their own things but not before Aaron showed me the video recording, he made of us. I asked him to send it to me and thanked him for it.

Pretty soon it was time for my friends to leave. I dropped them off at their places after lunch but this time in my own car. My baby is a beautiful black Beetle convertible. It's nothing in front of the other cars that we have but it's cute and compact, in all the perfect car for me. The windows are tinted for the much-needed privacy. After dropping them off, I decided to get an ice tea from the McDonald's driveaway. The server eyed my car and me but the good thing was that I had my sunglasses on. After that I drove around in my car for a while because it had been too long since I last came out for a drive.

The rest of the day I spent relaxing with Ginger. I texted my parents that the sleepover went great. They told me good luck for tomorrow and also that they'd seen and loved the video of our performance which Aaron must have sent them.

That night I slept with a smile on my face, finally getting this revelation off my shoulders.

Next day

The one thing that I was afraid of after telling my friends the truth was the fact that they'll change their behaviour towards me. Thankfully that didn't happen. Our morning routine was the same, the chit-chat, the bickering you know the works. The lunch was annoying, thanks to the Queen Bee who made me drop my lunch tray, except my drink which eventually made its way to her hair. She ran out of the cafeteria, shrieking.

My friends were a little worried with the interaction, even more so than usual.

"Why don't you just come clean to her? Cause I know for a fact that she'll become your personal fan if she knew, you know, about you." Stella asked when I finally settled down at our spot with a new lunch tray.

"I don't want her to change her way because of that factor. Trust me it'll do no good if everyone else found out. Plus, what else will keep me entertained here if she backs down."

We laughed and thankfully the topic changed. They told me that each of them had searched about us on the internet and were surprised at the number of articles they had found. Amazingly they didn't believe in any rubbish rumours that were also there on the media, in fact they sounded pretty agitated about them too.

In music class, just before our turn, both Tyler and I got a little nervous which soon disappeared and we gave our best. The whole class gave us a similar reaction that we got yesterday at my house. The teacher made it a point to tell each of us our strong points and even our weakest. Later she personally came up to me and Tyler to tell us that we did great. Despite however Ashley is, I really did like her performance. She had performed one of Ariana Grande's song with her partner doing the rap part of it. She seemed surprised to see me clapping for her. I may react to her tactics in the way that I do but I do know how to appreciate talent.

Afterwards in P.E., everyone except the football team and the cheerleader were given rounds to run and then some dodgeball after stretching. I ran a few extra laps of the field, because I had some stuff on my mind. I was thinking about what my dad meant when he said he had something to tell us, could it be related to why they were visiting. I also reminded myself to invite my friends over when my parents get here. After running and stretching, I joined the team on which my friends were for dodgeball. It was funny to some of the girls shriek when the ball is about to hit them. Despite that, the game was pretty fun and it ended in a tie.

On reaching home, I took a big nap. The burst of energy at the time of running ended up taking a toll on my already tired self. I hate Mondays; the dreadful day after the weekend.

I woke up and saw that it was around 6 in the evening. Oops. Not wanting to study just yet, I decided to play some video game, heading to the game room.

My brothers' obsession with the games rubbed off on me pretty good, I guess. I played some racing games and a few football ones too. I heard my brothers coming home as I was heading to my room after spending hours in the gaming room. I might have broken Nate's highest score on one of them. He is not going to be happy about it. That big baby.

And surely, after an hour of being back, I heard him grumbling from the games room as I was heading down to the living room. I went to the gaming room to see his glaring at the screen and then turned towards me.

"Did you do this? Do you know how hard I worked to get to the top? How am I gonna top this now?"

"It wasn't that difficult and I don't mind if you tell others that it's your score." I feel smug.

"Do you really think anyone will believe the score of 'Buttercup' is mine?"

I grinned at my choice of username which was obviously a great one.

"Oh, forget about this. Let's go have dinner then afterwards we can work on your gaming skills."

He grumbled but followed me nonetheless. We were joined by the other two for dinner who seems to find the high score thing pretty funny.

True to my words, after dinner I helped Nate to get the high score which he did, barely by just one point but at the end he was happy. Like I said baby.

I finished some of my work, which are due later this week and then tried to fall asleep reading one of my favourite novels. I can't wait for this week to be over.
