Jade's POV
Today is going to be the day, I promised myself.
Today will be the day I finally start to do the real investigation. To search for those long lost memories. To get rid of these feelings.
I will get my memories back. And maybe even more important, I'll get my best friends back.
I open the drawer where I hid the notebook. I hid it, because I'm scared someone will steal it from me.
Okay, maybe that sounds a little paranoid. But I'm scared someone will. What if there's a person behind this all?
I shiver at the thought. I could be being watched all the time, without knowing.
Okay Jade, stop. I don't want to think about it.
I open the little book and on the first page, I read a little report I wrote.
They told us we got another chance. Yes, I said "we". This was the third time I auditioned for The X Factor and I could see that they liked my voice ... but it was missing something. Maybe three somethings. Leigh-Anne, Jesy, Perrie and I sang a cover of Big Girls Don't Cry and they seemed to be pleased. I could see it in her eyes.
Wait, who's eyes?
Jessie J smiled at us and I could feel my heart beating.
How come I remember Jessie J being there but I can't remember the other person. I know there was someone. The same woman from my dream.
All four of us were crying and Perrie was shaking hard. But we weren't the only ones crying ...
Who was crying too? Come on, Jade. You're killing yourself.
A few tears escaped her eyes. They were noticeable even though she was wearing sunglasses.
Come on, who is she?
She smiled at us and told us we could leave.
I goddamn hate you, Jade from the past
I could notice we had a chance from her smile but I was still afraid.
Tell me her name already, God.
When they called us back, they told us we could start all over again. I was too happy. All four of us screamed and cried in happiness.
Seriously? Still not her name?
If I were able to go back in time, I'd slap myself.
Tulisa smiled at us in a way that told me she believed in us
Tulisa!
Oh my God, finally.
Something clicks in my head and I felt a hard thud in my heart.
Her name's Tulisa. I remember her.
Holy shit, I remember her. Her face, her personality, how she mentored us, how she always believed in us and the way she screamed and cried when they told us we won.
My eyes teared up.
God, Tulisa. You were the one who believed in us from the very beginning to the very end. You helped us through anything during The X Factor. You helped us believe in ourselves. You helped us more than anyone.
A tear streams down my cheek.
Please, remember us.
Jesy's POV
Jade has been in her room for more than three hours without making a sound and it's starting to worry me. I didn't go in there because I wanted to give her some space.
Perrie, Leigh and I were sitting on the couch, talking but mostly worrying about Jade. Perrie held her cup of thee as mine got cold. Leigh kept braiding and unbraiding her hair, repeating the action. I noticed it was a nervous habit of hers.
"Maybe one of us should check up on her," Leigh was the first to say something. It was obvious all of us were thinking the same thing. "As much as I want to, we should wait."
We agreed with Perrie although it's not what we wanted. "She's been quiet and she barely said a word this morning," I said, my eyes darting to her bedroom door.
Come out, Jade. I beg of you.
"How do you feel about this?" Perrie breaks the silence. Leigh and I watch her in confusion. She tucks her blonde hair behind her ears and looks at us. "About everything that Jade told us. To think that we used to be inseparable."
"We still are inseparable."
Our heads turn to Jade who was standing in front of her bedroom. "And I think I know someone who might help us."
No one asked anything as she grabbed her coat and motioned for us to follow her outside. Once in the car, Jade still didn't say anything.
"Jadey, are you going to tell us where we're going?"
"Tulisa."
Perrie, Leigh and I look at each other. Thank you, Jade. That clears it.
"Who's Tulisa?" Leigh asks while Jade's facial expression stays serious and bold. "Someone who helped and mentored us during The X Factor."
It was obvious none of us remembered her but it wasn't obvious why Jade was acting this way.
"Jade, cut it out. Tell us what's wrong. We're not strangers, we're your best friends," Perrie says in a serious tone. The mentioning of us being her best friends wiped the seriousness right off her face and replaced it with sadness.
"I want her to remember us. I want it so badly. She's our only hope."
It was once again silent. But our minds were going crazy.
"Let's find her then." I voice what everybody was thinking.
Leigh-Anne's POV
Tulisa ... Tulisa ... Tulisa? The name sounds so familiar and heartwarming. It gave me a good vibe. Normally I'd wonder why but apparently she meant something to us, according to Jade.
A strange anxious feeling overwhelms me. Who knows what we'll hear from this Tulisa woman. Who knows what she'll tell us. Maybe things that we don't really want to hear. Maybe even worse ...
"How are you sure where this Tulisa is?" Perrie asks.
"We went for dinner at her house a few times and I remember the adress." Jade sighs and parks in front of a modern white house which I guess was Tulisa's home.
There it was again. That anxious feeling. Almost like fear ...
"There's no reason to be afraid." Jesy smiles at me and takes my hand in hers, almost reading my mind. How did she ...?
I smile back at her and squeeze her hand a bit. "As long as I'm with you guys, I know."
Perrie and Jade join us for a big hug. There was something so familiar about this. This warm, secure feeling I got whenever I was near them and in their arms. If I ever fell, I know they'd help me up immediately. If I ever get hurt, I know they'll heal my wounds. If I ever break, I know they'll complete me again.
"We'll always be together." Jade's voice cracks and we all had a hard time trying to keep in the tears.
Everything inside our head might be erased but what's in our heart is still present.
