Friends With Aaliyah Mendes

Mendes Dinner

The whole day I was really nervous, but the confusing thing was, I did not know why. Probably because Aaliyah is an amazing friend and I hope her family likes me, and how she never talks about them to me.

 After lunch I was freaking out for what to wear. I was tearing  my closet apart when someone knocked on my door, " come in!"

" hello sweetie. what are you doing" My mother said.

" you know how i'm going to Aaliyah's house for dinner tonight... I don't know what to wear."

" wear your usually sweetheart."

" mom I can't. If it was my fake friends from back home, then yes I would wear a sweatshirt, but I really want Aaliyah and I to be friends. She really fun and nice, and I don't know."

" its all right Aaliyah is not going to stop being friends with you because of what you wear tonight." She gave me a hug. 

I went to my dresser, pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans with a navy blue t-shirt. I took a shower, straight my hair and got dressed. I stayed in my room doing a bunch of stuff, cleaning, homework and dancing.

I went downstairs around 6:10 to put my shoes on. On my down I smelled chocolate. I got down stairs, put on my shoes and my mom handed me a plate, " here Skylar. Give this to Aaliyah's family. There are freshly baked chocolate chip cookies."

I thanked her and kissed her before I left. A couple mins I heard the door bell. I opened it and saw Aaliyah. I stepped outside,

" hey Aaliyah!"

" hey Sky. I wanted to talk to you while we walk to my house, is that all right?"

" sure." We started to walk,

Aaliyah asked, " so what's in your hands?"

I laughed, " my mom made cookies for your family."

She smiled, " well thanks."

She continued, " Sky, I have been keeping a secret from you... Do you know Shawn Mendes?"

" yeah I do"

" well I'm kinda he's sister."

I laughed, " Aaliyah I know. You said your last name was Mendes and last night when I turned on the music you kept asking about him."

She was shocked, " so you knew and you treated me the same. Why?"

" Aaliyah even if your were or weren't related to Shawn I would really want us to be friends."

She smiled and we got to her house. She opened the door and we walked in. I saw Mr and Mrs. Mendes in the kitchen. Aaliyah and I walked into the kitchen. I said, " hello Mrs. and Mr. Mendes. Thank you so much for having me for dinner." 

While Mr. Mendes was setting the table and Mrs. Mendes mixing a salad together, Mrs. Mendes said, " Anytime Skylar, and thank you so much for coming." Aaliyah cut in , " so mom when is the dinner going to be ready?"

Her mom answered, " around 10" 

Aaliyah added, " great! Well we're going up to my room."

As Aaliyah and I started to walk to the stairs her brother came down. Shawn waved to us, Aaliyah said, " hey Shawn." and we kept walking.

As soon as I entered her room I was shocked, " damn Aaliyah you were right, our rooms look like the same." She laughed.

" So... was Shawn the family member that you don't see that much, and why you left yesterday?"

she sat down on her bed, " yeah. His career is really taking off, so he really never home, but he's home for like 2 weeks now."

I tossed a pillow at her, " Aaliyah! I feel so bad. Shawn has not even been back one day and i'm over here hanging out with you." 

She laughed, " dude it's all right, I have two weeks with him. Also I love your outfit!"

As soon as I was going to speak we heard Aaliyah's mom, " girls please come down here. Dinner is ready."

We both got up and ran down stairs. The table was arranged with the parents sitting on one side then Shawn Aaliyah and Me sitting on the other. We got down stairs and her mom said, " Skylar I hope you like salad and spaghetti!"

I nodded, " yes I do!" Everyone got their plates ready before I sat down and went up to Aaliyah, " hey may I use your bathroom?"

She nodded, " yeah, walk down that hallway and it's on the right." She grabbed my plate and put it on the table for me.

When I came back from the bathroom Mrs and Mr Mendes was sitting right next to each other, then it was Shawn, a empty seat then Aaliyah. She saw me and point to the empty seat in between her and Shawn. As soon as I sat down everyone started talk to each other.
