"My father broke my heart before any boy had the chance to."
Chapter 23: I'm going to punch the motherfucker tomorrow.
Previously:
She saw our questioning looks and sighed. "We admitted we like each other."
I found myself getting up and going on a hunt for Sam. I knew only one place where he could be so I decided to search there.
Not surprisingly, I found him at the field kicking a ball.
"Can I be the goalkeeper?" I asked him.
He turned to look at me and smiled. "Think you can handle it?"
I scoffed. "You doubt me?"
"Yeah, I do." He chuckled.
"Winter told us what happened." I mentioned warily.
"Funny isn't it. She liked me and I liked her and yet here we are." He let out a humorless laugh.
"Liked?" I asked referring to the use of past tense.
"Like. Too much. But that doesn't matter now, does it? We've hurt each other too much. How can she just admit that she likes me? She can't just do that. Did you know that Ryan started as a stupid excuse to get over me? Fine, I accept that I was a fucking coward but you didn't see me sucking faces with someone else. She? She did. She fucking broke my heart and now she comes and tells me that she likes me. How the fuck am I supposed to act now?" By the time he was finished, he had raised his voice and was breathing hardly.
"Give yourself and her some time. You'll figure it out after you've had your chance to cool off. I know it's hard right now but it'll get better. If it's meant to be you'll find each other and if it's not, well then there isn't only one M&M in a packet of them." I told him with a small smile.
He laughed. "Only you can relate everything with food."
Now:
"I'll be able to play this Friday. And you're coming, right?" Noah said excitingly as we entered Grams shop.
"I wouldn't miss your first game back." I smiled at him.
"Really? Why is that?" He asked with a smirk.
"You'll probably take off your shirt during the game and who would want to miss that?" I replied smiling, no doubt teasing him.
"So you're just using me for my extremely good-looking body?" He asked as he plopped on the chair on our table. Our table because everytime we come here we sit at the exact same table.
"Damn. You've caught me. What will I do now?" I sigh dramatically.
"You can kiss me better?" He suggested with a grin.
"I can do that, can't I?" I said pretending to wonder by tapping my finger to my chin.
He pulled me closer and whispered against my lips. "You sure can." And with that I kissed him.
"We're cheesy." I stated giggling. "I'm gonna go and find Grams and I'll be right back."
"Yeah go, leave me alone with my loneliness." Noah said and I couldn't help but laugh.
"You're so weird." I said and he shrugged.
I walked inside the kitchen and heard two voices talking. I knew both voices and one of them belonged to Grams but I couldn't exactly match the other voice to a person.
I walked a little in and saw Grams talking to my step-brother. Yes, my step-brother, Denis.
"What is going on here?" I asked looking at them.
