I expected the house we pulled up to to be nothing less than huge and beautiful. I was right. With a rounded driveway, three floors and perfectly cut, bright green grass, maybe they'll let me move in. Just kidding but... Maybe?
Liam took my helmet off forms after we parked in the driveway. The street is filled with cars.
"Come on. I'll introduce you to some people.", he said.
We walked into the house where the party was happening. I must say, it was lit. I hear Cardi B blasting on the stereo, people are dancing, others are drinking or making out. I've been to other parties, without Sarah and Davids knowledge, that were like this. This party is just on a grander scale. Even the drugs. What is normally alcohol and weed at other parties is cocaine and molly here.
Last year, Ryan and I went to Rebecca Gale's house party when her parents where out of town. Neither Ryan nor I experimented with anything. We just weren't into that stuff and plus, we didn't want to be ratted out by the other twin if we got into a fight at a later date. Ratting each other out was not a common occurrence but it happened every once in a blue moon when we were angry at the other.
"Casey, this Paul, Jake, Carmen, and Bryan. Everyone, this is Casey."
"Hey.", I said as they all either said " Hey" or "What's up"
"Girl, who did your makeup?", Carmen asked me.
"Uh, me. I was in a rush and having one arm doesn't help.", I answered.
"Do you mind if I do something?", she asked.
"Sure?", I guess.
"Let's get you properly prepared for a Hills party."
Without hesitating, Carmen grabbed my hand and led me to a bathroom upstairs before closing and locking the door. The music still bumping through the walls.
"Sit.", she said. I sat on one of the two chairs in this gigantic bathroom with marble sinks and what looks like a jacuzzi as a bathtub. Carmen pulled out her makeup from her purse and pulled up the other chair to face me.
As she sat down and began applying liquid eyeliner on the top of one of my eyelids, we began talking.
"So what happened to your arm?", she asked.
"Nothing really.", I answered.
"Don't want to talk about it. I respect that. My last boyfriend gave me a black eye once. I told everyone I fell.", she said as she started on my next eye.
"Damn.", I said subtly trying not to move with a liquid liner this close to my eye.
"It's fine now. I dumped his ass after he went to jail.", she claimed. I really only dated him to piss off my parents.
"Okay. Let me see.", she said.
She looked at her work.
"Tell me what you think."
I stood up to look in the mirror. It actually looked great. It's nothing like me, but that's what I need right now.
"Brings your eyes out.", Carmen continued to say.
"It's great. Thank you."
"Anytime. I want to be a makeup artist after I graduate. Much to the displeasure of my socialite parents which kind of makes me want to do it more.", she said. I let out a slight chuckle. Carmen seemed like a cool person. She didn't have to help me but she did.
"Let's get back", I followed her out of the bathroom and back downstairs.
"Over here!", Liam says from across the rooms as we got to the stairs.
Carmen and I maneuvered our way through all the party goers and finally got to the group who were on one of the couches. Liam does a line of coke and passes the rolled up dollar bill to Paul who then uses it to do his own line. He goes to hand me it.
"Naw, I'm good.", I tell him. He passes it to Carmen instead who does a line as well.
When she was done, she looked at me and said,
"It's not that bad. It gives you a high that doesn't last long but it kind of, lifts you up. If you don't want to do a line, you can rub some on your gums. It gives you a really cool numbing feeling.""Maybe later.", I said. " A drink sounds good though."
"Liam, get this girl a drink.", Carmen said.
"On it.", he replied as he got up.
I, truthfully, thought about saying, "Yes.", but I don't know. I used to make fun of these kids and now I'm here with them.
"The party has officially started!", a dude with a keg, who just walked in, said. Everyone cheered.
"Who is that?", I asked.
"Damien Brown. Prom king for the past two years, jock, and the biggest player you'll ever meet. He may be fine, but I swear that dude has more girlfriends than Pi has numbers.", Carmen warned.
Liam comes back with drinks for both of us.
"Thanks.", I told him.
"So you go to school with this fool?", Bryan asked me while referring to Liam.
"Yeah. Although I don't see him there much.", I said with a smile.
"What can I say? It's not my scene.", Liam replied.
As I drank, we all chatted about really irrelevant and random things like relationships, other parties happening this week, and people we can't stand. I had no idea who they were talking about since we go to different schools, but it was a relief to not be attached to the accident for once. Not that I'm not thinking about it, because I always am, but the change helped ever so slightly.
Before I knew it, it was two in the morning and the party was started to die down. It was a weekday afterall.
"I have to go.", Carmen said as she grabbed her keys from her purse.
"You ready?", Liam asked me.
"Yeah.", I answered.
"Liam, if you don't bring her to the next party, I won't talk to you again.", Carmen jokingly said. "You finally brought someone around I like.
Looking at me with his big blue eyes, Liam replies, " Oh, I will."
"What about us?", Paul asked Farmed.
Her reply made me laugh. "You losers are alright."
"Just alright?", Paul said.
"Don't push it. I was being nice.", she told him as she laughed.
The ride home was just as nice as the ride there. Normally I'd worry about coming home so late. My phone has always been glued to my hand so having it taken away as a punishment is worse than if someone told me I couldn't eat. Okay, maybe not worse but you get it.
"Thank you for tonight.", I told Liam as I got off his bike and handed him his helmet.
"How was it?", he asked me.
"The party? It was good. I'm glad I went."
"Me too. There's another one tomorrow and this Friday. I'll text you.", he said as he put on his helmet.
"Cool.", I replied. As he started his bike.
"Have a good night Casey.", he said. I smiled and replied, " You too."
He drove off in his motorcycle. The night was pretty decent. But now, I'm back where I was before. In a nightmare.
