Katla held her stance, the grip of both Bjorn and Sigurd loosening once Ragnar moved up from his slouching position in his throne and over to the strange girl.
His eyes watched over her. Her tattered white dress clinging to her small body and her bare feet. The dress she was wearing was something Ragnar has never seen before, The thin material was as smooth as silk and was held together by shiny gold and silver chains. Ragnar couldn't help but think she was someone of great importance from her clothes. But then again she had no shoes. Strange.
"My sons all tell me you were riding a bear?"
Katla looked around the room nervously. The few lights illuminating the room, the five young men standing beside their father and two beautiful women on the other side of them. The lady with blonde hair gripped a sword tightly in her hand, watching her carefully.
"Yes." Katla kept her answer short but to the point. Not wanting these strange people to know more than she needed to tell them. She could tell that Ragnar was a powerful man, strutting around with a smug look on his face.
Ragnar simply raises his eyebrows while returning to his seat on his throne. The beautiful lady with brown wavy hair sitting next to him, Must be his lady.
"Are you from my land? Is it true you do not know me as your king?" He paused and motioned towards the young men now each taking a seat at the long table in front of her. "And you do not know the princes? Or my ladies?"
I looked at each of his son's faces, clearly now seeing the resemblance in each of them now. My eyes locked with Ivar's as he simply averted his gaze and grabbed a mug in his hand, downing whatever liquid was inside instantly.
"I do know some. I know Ivar, he chased me on his horse. And i seen Bjorn and Sigurd but they just ran away."
A snort left someone lips as i turned my head to see one of Ragnar's older sons laughing.
Bjorn simply shook his head, while Sigurd glared at his older brother then at myself.
Ragnar reached one of his hands up to stroke his long beard, thinking to himself before clearing his throat and speaking.
"You know now i am your king. And if you plan on staying on my land you will treat me like one. As well as my sons and my wives. If you are to stay here.. you will be put to work. My old wife, Lagertha will teach you how to wield a sword. My current wife will teach you how to make clothes and then as for my sons.. well you can tend to their.. needs."
I watched as a wicked smirk formed across his lips, his sons soon smiling happily.
I raised my eyebrows at his words. Surely he could not be serious.I opened my mouth to speak but i was cut off by the sound of heavy footsteps entering the now silent room.
"Ah, Floki." Ragnar smiled.
My eyes lit up as i turned around as quickly as i could. It was him, He looked almost the same, his beard had grown and he had dark paint smeared across his eyes.
Once he seen me he stopped walking, taking in my appearance before a loud laugh boomed from his mouth, launching forward and wrapping me into a tight hug.
I instantly hugged him back, hugging the only man that i knew in my life that took me under his wing. Even for the short time it was, he always showed me kindness and i promised myself i would never forget that.
I could feel the confused gazes from all of Ragnar's family burning into my back as Floki pulled back, cupping my cheeks in his hands as he scanned over my face before turning to his beloved friend Ragnar.
