As the long night went on forever, we could no longer handle the darkness.
I lit the torches as we continued our long and endless search for Magnus.
I could hear only the faint sound of running, but we followed close behind. Soon, the sound of running stopped, and we were at the entrance of a marsh, I could see the deep marks of footprints embedded in the mud.
The rain was thick, and everything was dark in the storm. Trees rustled in the night, as the winds blew them down. I jumped off of my mare and walked towards the marsh.Would you like us to accompany you?" Beluar asked.
No, I am fine on my own from here." I answered as I gave a slight smile, sending sighs of discomfort along the circle of guards.
I stepped closer and took in a deep breath. I made my way into the darkness of the woods, my torch lighting the way as I followed the smallest changes in the leaves, bushes, and sticks. Magnus had left the faintest trail that I could hardly manage to follow.
Soon I could hear the sound of water, and I found myself in front of a beautiful glowing waterfall that boomed out splashes, and then, a small echo masked by the waterfall that had managed to get through to my ears.
I walked through, allowing the water to soak me from head to toe. A cave opening appeared, and I entered as silently as possible.
I turned a corner in the cave, and I saw him sitting, bleeding. He had his sword laid out to the side of him, as he gulped at the air. A guard must have gotten to him before he escaped. He turned his head slowly to look at me slightly, and he chuckled in pain. "Guess this is the end of me." He said. "At least end it quickly for me."
I took his sword, and held it firmly in my hands, the blade pointing at his heart. "Why did you want me to loose that much?"
I believed you would not be able to do it, and it would destroy the elven ways. Only an Elfor could ever take the throne." He slightly laughed.
Since when?" I asked.
Since queen Thorn." He answered coldly.
I am sorry, who?" I asked.
Queen Thorn. The first ever queen of elves." He answered. "Only a few generations ago did she live, probably right before you were born, she must have died."
How have I never heard of her?" I asked, even though I remembered hearing her name once.
You should have heard of her." He replied.
Suddenly I remembered everything. I remembered hearing her name when Beluar had explained the kingdoms heart to me.
Never heard of her?"
Well, I have heard of her at least once." I replied.
He gave me a strange look as he carried on. "She married King Oak of the forest kingdom. She lived years ago. No one is ever educated about her anymore. King Oak forbade it." He explained.
King Oak?" I asked.
Yes. He is most likely dead now, could have died before you were born like queen Thorn. What was your fathers name? All we know is that he was king of the forest elves. We only know the kings by their kingdom." He laughed.
King Oak." I mumbled.
Pardon?"
My fathers name." I choked on my words. "Was King Oak. Has there ever been a King with the same calling?" I asked. "Or did you pronounce the old king's name?"
