-.- (about two weeks later)

I got ready to go over to Finn's house. I grabbed the soup my mom prepared and got in the car. Finn was sick so I decided to make him feel better by visiting him. I feel like he would appreciate me just being there even if we don't do anything.

I got out of the car and went up to his house. I knocked and waited for someone to open the door. I heard muffled footsteps on the other side of the door. His mom opened the door with a smile.

"Hi Mrs.Wolfhard, can I come in? I brought some soup for Finn. I know he's been feeling pretty bad lately." I said.

"Of course, thank you. Here, I'll heat it up for him and you can take it up with you. He's been laying in bed all day. I'm sure you being here is going to cheer him up."

After she heated up the soup, I went upstairs and knocked on his door.

"Who's the best friend ever who brings you soup when you're sick?" I said as I stuck my head through the door.

"Hey (y/n). Thanks so much." he said with a smile as he sat up.

I walked over and handed him the soup. I pulled up a chair and sat down beside his bed.

"How are you feeling?" I asked.

"Sick as a dog. But with the help of you and this soup I'll be better in no time."

I smiled in response.

"Has Mariah come and visited you?"

"She can't, she's in LA with her family right now." Finn said with slight annoyance in his tone.

It was quiet for a bit while he finished his soup. I don't understand why he won't break up with her if he's so unhappy. It doesn't make sense that he would be with her just because his brother told him to.

"I don't mean to butt in or anything but if you're unhappy with her why not break up with her?"

He threw his hands up and scoffed.
"I wish I could but I can't, Nick will kill me if I do."

"Why though? Him dating her older sister has nothing to do with it."

"I know, I know." he sighed, "maybe I can break up with her and not let him know."

"If that's what you think is best then go for it dude." I said.

-.-

"Hey guess what?" Finn said excitedly.

"What's up?"

"So there's going to be a new show on Netflix and they're letting people audition. Want to help me record it? Pleaseeeee." he said.

"Of course, with the stuff I've seen you do in theatre I'm sure you'll nail the audition."

"Thank you thank you thank you!" he said happily. He threw his arms around me and hugged me tight.

-.-

We set up the phone to record and went over lines. He knew it like the back of his hand. After a few minutes, we started recording. He really was good. I can see how much work he has been putting into this. I hope he gets it.

He stopped and indicated that I stopped recording. I clapped and nodded at his performance. He bowed jokingly as I clapped.

"You did amazing, really. I hope you get it Finn." I said to him genuinely.

"Thank you for helping me go over lines and for helping me record. I really appreciate it."

"No problem."

-.-

We played Call of Duty for a bit, and for a bit I mean about two hours. We were just about to play another round when Finn got called downstairs. I looked out the window and saw Mariah. I could see them talking, I wonder if he's going to do it. I hate not being able to read lips. I saw Mariah walk into her sister's car and drive off and Finn coming back in.

I sat back down in front of the tv like I didn't see anything. He came in and sat back down beside me.

"Who was it?" I asked, pretending I didn't know.

"Mariah."

"Oh, what happened?"

"We talked, but I just couldn't do it. Not in front of her sister because then she would tell Nick." Finn explained.

"Are you going to do it at school?"

"Probably, it would be cruel to show up to her house just to break up with her."

"True. Hey, is Nick ever home? I never see him when I come over."

"He's always off at someone else's house, plus he works during the day."

I nodded, not wanting to intrude too much. I wonder why Nick doesn't want Finn to break up with Mariah so badly.

-.-

"I'll see you later Finn. Hope you feel better soon." I said as I got up to leave. I ruffled his hair and walked out of his room. I walked downstairs and waved to his mom. My mom was already outside waiting for me. I got in the passenger seat and went home. I stayed at his house practically all day.

I stayed up almost all night thinking about Finn. I don't know why, I've never really done this before. I mean, sure, he's my best friend but these thoughts are different. I contemplated as to why I was having these thoughts. My mind was filled with questions like, "Does he think I'm pretty?", "What would happen if we dated?", "What type of boyfriend is he?".

"Do I like him?" I asked myself out loud.

I can't feel this way about him though. We've been best friends since pre k. I can't let these sudden feelings ruin our friendship we have maintained for years.

"No, no. You're going crazy, you don't like Finn. Not like that at least." I thought.

I decided to ignore these thoughts and never ever bring them up to anyone.

-.-
