Chapter 3: What About You?

I know these times skips are ridiculous but it's easier to just cut to the chase yknow?

-.- (about a week later when Finn gets back to school)

Theatre can be great sometimes. Some days all we do is hang out and do nothing. This is one of those days. Finn and I were sitting in the back of the auditorium on our phones. We hadn't said a word in about ten minutes. That is, until Finn spoke up.

"I haven't broken up with Mariah yet. I don't want to be a d*ck."

"I thought you wanted to break up with her. It's not being a d*ck if you do it because you're unhappy." I reasoned.

"It's just...Okay. I don't want to be seen as a douche to a certain person." Finn said as he fiddled with his fingers.

"Oooo. I think someone has a crush. Who is it?" I asked excitedly.

"I'm not going to tell you!"

"Why not? At least tell me what they're like! Cmon Finn, I'm your best friend."

"Well, she's real cool. She likes a lot of the stuff that I do and she's one of the best people I know. It also doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes." Finn rambled on as his face turned slightly red.

"She sounds cool. I hope to meet her one day." I said.

"What about you?" Finn asked.

I felt myself becoming nervous. I can't let him know I've had those thoughts about him. Especially when he likes another girl. I cleared my throat.

Okay, just play it cool.

"Umm...nope! Not one person comes to mind." I said trying not to be obvious.

"(Y/n), I can see you blushing. Also, you forget I'm your best friend. I can tell when you're lying. Who is it?" Finn saw right through me.

"No one Finn, honestly. I don't even think I like them." I lied.

"Okayyyyy. But I will find out one day (y/f/n)."

That was a close one.

"Anyways, if she's really great like you say she is, then I'm pretty sure she won't see you as a d*ck."

"Yeah, I might just do it today at lunch."

"And maybe then you can tell me who you like. Please Finn!"

"You're determined. But no, you'll end up finding out who it is eventually. Trust me."

"Fine."

After theatre, we go to lunch. We began walking downstairs and towards the cafeteria. I can tell he's nervous to break up with her. I sat down at our regular table and watched him approach her from afar. He told me he wasn't going to do it in front everyone. They both walked out of the cafeteria and into the hallway I'm assuming.

About three to five minutes later, they both come walking in. I see Mariah is fuming due to her red face and her balled up fists. She sits down at her regular table and glares daggers at Finn as he walks over to our table. He sits down and huffs.

"How'd it go?"

"Terrible. She threatened to f*cking punch me. She would've done it if it weren't for a teacher walking by."

"I'd have to fight her if she did hit you. No one hurts my best friend." I said only half joking.

We continued to eat lunch and talked about his audition. He was supposed to hear back from them soon. I really do think he is going to get the part.

I was woken up by my phone ringing loudly on my nightstand. I furiously grabbed my phone and answered.

"Who is this and why is it so important that you had to wake me up?"

"Woah there. It's Finn, guess what?!"

"What? This better be good Wolfhard."

"It is actually! I got feedback on my audition."

"Really?! And?" I said enthusiastically.

"I'm flying to LA for call backs! I can't believe it (y/n)!"

"Congrats dude! I knew you could do it. When are you flying to LA?"

"In about a week actually. I've got most of the lines memorized anyways from when we filmed the audition."

"Well that's great. Wanna celebrate?"

"Hell yeah! What should we do?"

"Your choice man. Whatever you want to do is cool with me."

"How about we go pig out at some random pizza place and go skateboard around town?" Finn suggested.

"Sounds cool. What time do you want me to come over?"

"At 1, I'll meet you out front. See you soon (y/n)."

After we got off the phone, I checked the time on my phone. 11:11am Huh, it's that time that everyone freaks out over on social media. I got up and decided to start getting ready. I showered and chose my outfit.
(There isn't much variety but just choose one lol)

After choosing my outfit, I did my hair (however the heck you want man). I grabbed my skateboard from beside my door and headed downstairs. It was already 12:30 so I had to get going because of traffic.

I got in my mom's car and we headed over to Finn's house. I'm so glad he got a call back. If he gets the part, I hope he won't stop hanging out with me. We've been friends for years and I'd hate to fall out.

We pulled up and I said a quick bye to my mom and headed up to his house. I saw him standing by the door. He looked up and waved.

"Hey. Ready to go?" Finn asked.

"Yep."
