(Y/N) POV

Monday. The official first day of summer. A summer without Finn. My first summer without Finn. I groaned as I reached over to grab my phone. I checked my notifications, nothing. I sighed and checked Instagram. Tons of people from our school were out having fun already. It's not even noon yet. I rolled my eyes and got up from bed, chucking my phone to the side.

After freshening up, I headed downstairs and fixed myself up a bowl of cereal. My parents work the most during the summer. They like to give me my space to rest from the stress school caused me. I sat down at the breakfast bar and stared blankly at the fridge as I chewed my cereal. Suddenly, my phone started ringing. I glanced over and saw Finn's caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Hey (y/n)! Can we FaceTime?" Finn asked enthusiastically.

"Sure hold on." I said as I began making the call.

His face popped up along with a ton of other unfamiliar faces. I smiled politely and waited to be introduced.

"So guys this is (y/n), the one I've been talking about this whole time." Finn said to the other people. I waved and listened as he introduced everyone. There was Sophia, Jeremy, Chosen, Wyatt, Jack, and Jaeden. They all seemed very nice.

"How is the first day of summer without me? Are you dying from deprivation yet?" Finn joked.

I smiled at him, "Haha. Nope, but I do miss you."

"I miss you too. I swear to call you as much as I can, okay?"

"Okay, you better Wolfhard. Abandonment is no joke." I joked.

"Well I can assure you you are not abandoned. You have (y/bff) and Josh to keep you company."

"(Y/bff) is going to Virginia for two whole months and Josh is going to be working on a bunch of short films." I groaned.

He sighed sympathetically and messed with his hair. He looked like he was thinking. Suddenly he smiled.
"What?" I asked.

"Why don't you come visit me for a while? Just like a week or two."

"Why the hell not. My parents are barely home anyways. When should I go visit you?" I smiled at the thought of visiting him.

"After next week, we won't be that busy at that point." he smiled widely. "I can't wait to see you."

"I can't wait to see you too." I paused, "So, how is everyone you're filming with? Are they nice?"

"So far, yes. I barely know them since I've only met them about two times before this."

"Well I hope you have a great summer over there." I smiled at him.

He was just about to say something when he got another call. My smile faded and I saw as he sighed.

"I'm sorry (y/n), it's Mariah and if my parents find out I haven't been answering her calls and texts I'll be in big tro-"

I cut him off, "Finn, it's fine. I understand."

"I'll call you later, bye." he said frantically.

"Bye I lo-" I sighed as he hung up. We didn't say our goodbyes.

-.-

I grabbed my Polaroid camera and walked up the hill. As soon as I reached the spot, I took a quick picture and let it develop as I went onto Instagram.
( pretend Instagram boomerang existed maybe it did idk )
I picked up the picture and held it up to align with the gazebo. I made a quick boomerang of me moving the picture to align and uploaded it to my Instagram story.

When I was done, I walked over to the gazebo and sat down. I was going to have a little picnic, by myself. As I was pulling my food out, I heard something rustle behind me in the bushes. I looked over and out came a cute Labrador. I smiled as it walked over and sat down beside me.

"You don't have a collar...and there's no one around...so I guess you're mine now." I petted him.

"I'm going to call you Stimpy."

I decided to head home and eat my food at home. But first, I was going to get him some food and a bed on the way home.

After I bought his necessities, I headed home and decided to wash him up on the driveway. The sun was staring to set, I got distracted and Stimpy got loose from my grip while still covered in soap.

"No, Stimpy! Come back boy!" I dropped the hose and began to run after him.

I turned a corner around someone's house and ended up in their backyard.

"Sh*t." I whispered as I hid in the bushes. I took a quick look around and ran to get Stimpy. When I turned around, a boy around my age was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.

"Sh*t, I'm sorry. It's just my dog got away while I was trying to bathe him and he ended up here." I apologized.

He chuckled and shook his head. "It's fine, seems like he's quite the runner since I've never seen you around. What's your name random girl that ran into my backyard?"

"(Y/n). I guess Stimpy did run pretty far from home."

"I'm Devon. If you ever need a dog sitter, I'm your guy. Stimpy seems like a fun guy."

"Yeah. Okay well, I'll be going now. Bye random boy whose backyard I ran into." I waved and began walking home.

-.-

I plopped myself down in front of the tv with Stimpy beside me. I ran my hand through his fur as I watched my favorite show. After about two episodes, I heard the front door open. I turned my head and saw my mom looking exhausted.

"Hi mom, what's wrong?" I asked as she walked over to me.

She sat down beside me and looked at the dog then back up at me.
"Stimpy. Don't worry I washed him and bought everything."

She smiled and petted him. "Stimpy here just brightened my day."

"Hey that reminds me, can I go visit Finn after next week?" I playfully pouted and blinked my eyes rapidly.

"For how long?"

"Two weeks?" I lingered on the s.

"Who's going to take care of Stimpy?"

Suddenly, Devon came to mind.
"I know somebody who dog sits, please mom."

She sighed and looked around the house.
"I'll think about it."

I hugged her tightly. "Thank you mom. Goodnight!"

I guess this day turned out better than I thought it would
