Is this sin?

I've heard and read a lot of people who addresses this topic. We all want to know is this or that sin ? But from what I've heard and read, it all comes down to the same one thing.

No-one can define if something is a sin or not but God. Something that may be considered a sin to you may not be considered a sin in someone else's eyes. There for the only one who can define what is sin and not is God himself.

Our pastor once said that if you are doing or saying something that you think may be sinful , and Jesus would to come at that exact moment . Would you welcome Him with open arms and say "God I'm so happy to see you , please come and join us." Or would you say "oh, God , I'm so happy to see you but this isn't a great time right now."

The way I see it is that if you can answer with please come and join us , it's not considerd a sin. But if you answer with oh this isn't a good time or sorry you had to see me doing or saying this , its considered a sin.

But remember that only God can determine if and what is sin. But if you feel that what your doing or saying will make God feel unhappy with your actions and you feel guilty it most likely was a sinful thing to do.

But at the end if you have done a sinful thing , which we all do because we're all human and none of us is perfect . Just repent to the Lord and say "God forgive me for i have sinned." Because we all do sin . It's part of being an imperfect human, which we all are. As long as you repent to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness, he will forgive you of your sinful action or words.

In Proverbs 28:13 it says "whoever conceals their sins ,does not prosper. But the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy ."

I think what the message there is that you can't whitewash your sins and get by with it, you find mercy by admitting and leaving them.

So , my message here to today is when you find yourself asking again what is sin ? Look at what God says about sin and then ask yourself the question : would God be happy if I did or said this ?
