A Summers Ball

June 30th
Hamilton household

It was quite a busy day for the Hamiltons. Eliza was fussing over Angie's hair while Alexander was straightening Phillip's cravat.

"You to shall be on your best behavior, you understand me?" Eliza said, sternly. "Yes ma'am," Phillip and Angie said in unison. "I'm not so worried about you Phillip. It's Angelica and your father." Eliza said, only half jokingly. Alexander huffed and rolled his eyes.

Burr household

Theodosia had agreed to dancing with Phillip, and boy, was she excited. Theo looked at her self in the mirror. She was wearing a pastel green dress. Her hair was in a tight bun aside from some loose strands that would've drove her mother crazy. Would've.

At the ball Theo was planning on telling Phillip about the passing of her mother. Would it kill the mood? Yes. But he needed to know.

Theodosia and Aaron step outside and get in the carriage. "What do you do is a young man asks you for a dance?" Aaron asked his daughter. "You politely accept, or decline." Theo said, saying the last part quietly. "Theodosia, it's only polite." Burr told Theo. She rolled her eyes. That's going to be used against you, father. Just you wait... Theo thought to herself.

(Another time skip brought to you by Phillip's raging hormones. )

Aaron escorted his daughter into the Washington's home- more like mansion.

"I'm going to meet with some of my colleagues, be polite" Burr told Theo, walking away. Theodosia spent about fifteen minutes wandering around until- Bump! "Oh my- hello, Phillip!" "I'm sorry, Theo. I didn't see you there." Phillip apologized. "Clearly." Theo joked.

"I have a question, my dear Theodosia." Phillip said. Theo blushed at the flirtatious words. "Yes?" Theo asked, nervous. "Would you care to dance with me?" Phillip asked, lending the small girl in front of him his hand. "It would only be polite," Theo said to the boy, taking his hand.

Theo and Phillip strode out on to the dance floor hand in hand. The pair got a few shocked looks as the music started, and one furious one. It was from the one and only Aaron Burr. Luckily, Alexander was to busy dancing with his wife to spot the young teens.

Theo felt her face flush with pink as Phillip and herself intertwined fingers. The music was a slow melody and it reminded Phillip of the songs they would play together. It was Phillip's turn to blush as Theodosia placed her forhead on the boy's chest, still waltzing around the room.

Five songs and five dances later the pair stepped of the dance floor. Theo led Phillip to the Washington's garden out back and motioned for him to sit with herself on a bench.

"My mother passed three days ago." Theo whispered, her head hanging low.

"I know." Phillip whispered back, taking the girl's chin and lifting her eyes to meet his.

Her chocolate brown eyes were watery and dull. The spark was gone. Phillip missed that spark.

Phillip moved his hand from her chin to her cheek, anchoring one of his long fingers behind Theo's ear. "Phillip," Theodosia said breathlessly. Without a second thought they both placed their lips on each others. To Theo, Phillip's lips flelt like silk and his mouth tasted like honey. The kiss was sweet and slow and Aaron watched it all from a window. As did Alexander.

Before the kiss could escalate Phillip pulled away and blushed like a mad man. "Thank you." Theo whispered.

"The pleasure was all mine." Phillip said sweetly, still gazing into Theodosia's eyes.

They walked back into the Washington residents hand in hand. The night was perfect.
