The Reynolds Pamphlet
July 12th
Streets of New YorkThe Reynolds Pamphlet! Have you read this?!
Is all that could be heard along the streets of New York. As Phillip walked on said streets people either gave him a sympathetic look, or a disgusted one. He was completely and utterly confused.
The boy walked home, ignoring the dozens of people trying to get the fifteen year old's attention.
The Hamilton household
Phillip stepped into his family home, only to be greeted by a sobbing Angie.
She ran up to him, shoving a pamphlet and her face into her brother's chest. "Shh, what's wrong?" he said in a soothing voice, guiding the girl clinging on to him to the parlor. Out of nowhere Phillip heard a loud painful wail coming from his parents room upstairs.
"Angelica, is Ma okay?" Phillip asked. In response she shoved the pamphlet into her brother's arms again. "Read it." Angie said, scarily calm, given she was just balling her eyes out thirty seconds ago.
Phillip sat down on a chair and started to read,
'The charge against me is a connection with one, James Reynolds. For purpose of improper speculation, my real crime is an amorous connection with his wife, for a considerable amount of time, with his knowing concent.'
"Danm." Phillip whispered, obviously furious. (He has anger issues.)
'I had secret meetings with her, most of them in my own house.'
"In this very house." he whispered again.
'Mrs. Hamilton and our children being absent on a message to her father.'
Phillip couldn't bear to read any further. He shot up, angrily throwing the pamphlet on the chair, fuming. He started to stalk to his father's study when Angelica whispered:
"Phillip, don't. Please."
He turned his head to look at his sister. The young girl noticed a small glint of unstableness, or dare she call it insanity in her brother's eyes. Phillip turned back and started walking, heavily to his father. He didn't even give Angie a second glance. (That actually got kinda dark. Oops.)
Once he got to the door of his father's study he gave it three loud bangs. If he hit it any harder he would probably punch a hole through the door. "Come in..." Alexander whispered, probably worried.
Expecting Angelica, he was surprised to see his son. He wouldn't admit it, but he was more scared of his son than Angelica Schuyler-Church herself.
Alexander also the pain and pure hatred in Phillips eyes. But it wasn't just pain and pure hatred. It was suffering, madness, and as Angie thought insanity.
"H-Hello, s-s-on." Hamilton stuttered.
"Hamilton," Phillip spat, his voice venomous.
Alexander's face immediately changed from fear to hurt and surprise. That happened to be the first time Phillip called him anything besides 'Pops' or 'Pa'. The tears started to well up in the grown man's eyes.
His son's face looked the exact same as his. He couldn't seem to get over the fact that his son, the boy that looked the identical to his best friend, looked even scarier mad than he did.
" Congratulations. You've invented a new kind of stupid, a 'damage you can never undo' kind of stupid. An 'open all the cages in the zoo' kind of stupid. Truly, you 'didn't think this through' kind of stupid." Phillip spat.
"Let's review, you took a rumor a few, maybe two people knew and refuted it by sharing an affair of which NO ONE accused you! We begged you to take a break, you refused to." He yelled, slamming his hands on the desk, his face inches away from Alexander's.
"So scared of what your enemies will do to yoy, but your the only enemie you ever seem to loose to. YOU KNOW WHY JEFFERSON CAN DO WHAT HE WANTS, HE DOESN'T DIGNIFY SCHOOL-YARD TAUNTS WITH A RESPONSE! SO YEAH, CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE REDEFINED YOU LEGACY. CONGRATULATIONS! " Phillip screamed, ready to burst into tears.
But he didn't.
He took the weight of his hands, stood up, and guess what he did. Slap! Phillip slapped his own father right on the face, and he didn't regret a thing.
Alexander, being to stunned by his son's actions, sat there in shock as his son turned and walked to the door.
When Phillip opened the door he saw the Angelicas. Schuyler-Church wore the expected expression, the one similar to Alexander's. Shock and utter surprise. Although, Phillip was sure he saw a little bit of pride mixed in with it all.
His sister, on the other hand, wore a face of fear. She was scared of him. She thought, 'If father made him mad and slapped him, what would he do of he was mad at me?' Angie scurried away, hoping not to get in his way.
Phillip tiredly walked upstairs to sob with his mother.
Now it was Angelica's turn.
