Today was Saturday, which means no school. I went to the park alone, but soon realized that Gee was there as well! He was there with someone else though, and I didn't want to infringe so I decided to stay away. However not much later he noticed me and came running over with the other person.

We greeted each other, and Gee introduced me to the boy standing beside him. He was taller than both Gee and I, but apparently he was Gee's younger brother, Mikey. The boy was timid, had straight, light brown hair, and wore glasses. I introduced myself and Gee suggested that I should go home with them to hang out. I politely said that I shouldn't go, because Momma wouldn't know where I was.

Gee tried insisting, saying things like "you can take care of yourself, your mom doesn't need to know where you are at all times", so I told him that Momma said I should always tell her where I am. Gee then tried suggesting that I break that rule and go anyways, saying that Momma didn't have to find out! I got offended by this, how could he even suggest such a thing?! Rule breaking is bad, doesn't he know that there's nothing bad here?

After that I said that I had to go, but that it was nice to see them. I started backing away but Gee grabbed my arm, making me stop. He made eye contact with me and said, "I know you're lying." That hurt me, didn't he know that lying is bad? I couldn't understand why Gee kept telling me to do all these bad things.

I tried telling him I wasn't lying but he didn't believe me. Finally Mikey stepped in and said, "Frank, it's okay if you can't come home with us. How about the three of us hang here for awhile?" I glanced at Gee, who was looking at me expectantly, before agreeing. I ended up actually having a lot of fun!

At one point I saw three of my friends, Pete, Jamia, and Ryan, so I went over to them asked if they wanted to hang out with Mikey, Gee, and I. But...instead of saying yes like I thought they would, one of them, Pete, stepped forward and said in a mean voice, "Why would we want to hang out with you and your freak friends?" I gasped, and quickly told him that it wasn't very nice to say that. They all laughed, and relief coursed through me as I laughed too. "I knew you were just kidding! Now come on, they're actually pretty fun!" I said. They stopped laughing. Pete was about to say something ese when Jamia stepped forward and lightly pushed him back. "Come on now, don't be mean to Shortie!" Then she turned to me and said in a mockingly high pitched voice, "Sorry Frankie, but we can't play with you and your little friends."

"Why not?" I asked, and Pete said from behind her, "Because we can't be seen socializing with losers like you." I'll admit, that hurt a lot. Why would they say something like that? I tried to ignore it and said in a shaky voice, "O-oh...okay...s-sorry to bother you then...I'll just go now..." I turned and ran away, not paying attention to what happened next.

When Mikey and Gee found me they tried to comfort me, but I told them I was fine and that I was going to go home. When I stepped into my house Momma asked me how my day had been. I was about to tell her what happened, but then I realized that I didn't want to worry her so I just smiled and said, "It was great," before heading to my room.
