It rained again today. When I was walking home, the strange boy came up to me. He grabbed my shoulder and said to me, "Frankie, wait. This is ridiculous, you can't keep ignoring me. Please, Frankie, I miss you."
I stared at him for a moment before asking politely, "I'm sorry, who are you?" Even though the back of my conscious already told me the answer.
The boy stared at me, a sad look on his face. "You know who I am, Frankie. It's me, Gee! Why are you doing this? To yourself? To me? Why?"
"I need to be good." I said quietly. The back of my conscious is really loud right now. It needs to quiet down.
"You are good, Frankie! You're perfect! Why don't you see that? I love you so please, stop shutting me out."
I felt like I was about to cry, but that didn't make sense. I had nothing to cry over. Maybe it was empathy, the strange boy was crying.
The back of my mind told me it was something else.
"I miss you Gee." I whispered.
"I miss you too." He whispered back.
Then we were both quiet. Then...
"Gee..." I murmured, surprised to be heard over the harsh fall of raindrops.
The next moment we were hugging, so tightly neither of us could breathe.
"I missed you so much," Gee cried. I just nodded into his shoulder. "I love you so much."
"I love you too," I choked. Gee looked at me, still weeping, but they were happy tears now.
We kissed. We embraced each other tightly and kissed, the rain falling around us, our bodies soaked, but neither of us caring. I remembered what I was missing out on. I never truly forgot.
"I love you, Gee..."
