El's POV
I was coming out of 2nd period, on my way to mikes class when I was pushed up against my locker, an older boy towering over me menacingly, an evil glint in his eye. I cowered back in fear, silently begging mike to come save me. I was terrified, then 7 kids came up to try and help me, one looked a lot like mike, so much so that i accidentally whimpered his name. "Mike," I said unknowingly, the boy just looked at me questioningly. " GO BLOW YOUR DAD YOUR MULLET WEARING ASSHOLE!!" He screamed as he walked off to his next class. The bell went and it was only me and bowers and another Kid hiding in their locker. Before I could process what was going on, I felt his horrible slimy lips smash against mine. I squeezed my eyes shut in an attempt to not puke and tried to wriggle away until I heard an all too farmiliar voice.

Mikes POV
" HEY DIPSHIT!!" I screamed at Henry, punching him in the nose as soon as he turned around, catching him off guard. He fell to the floor in shock and el ran to my arms, tears streaking her face. "Are you ok??" I asked cupping her face and looking into her beautiful eyes. She nodded slowly before saying "I am now," and nestling her head in the crook of my neck. We stood there like a human jigsaw until Henry got up and hit me straight back but harder, seeing as he was a year older than me I fell over bleeding and made a grab for el, and ran all the way home holding her hand.

Els POV
we got home, our hands still interlocked. We went down to the basement and mike hurried upstairs while I was looking back at my first real home, the first place I was ever truly happy and safe. He came back down with a few movies and popcorn and we cuddled up on the sofa together.
Mikes POV
She did it again. Not that I'm complaining but whenever a remotely scary but comes on she grips my arm and buries her head in my shoulder whilst she is curled up in my lap. The scary bit went off and I felt els grip soften but she didn't move. I looked down at her beautiful face and realised she was sleeping. I put her down in the blanket fortress and looked at her for a minute before heading upstairs. "Mike?" I heard el whisper. "Don't leave me," she said pleadingly, her arms open wide. I sighed knowing that hopper would go ape shit if he saw but I agreed quickly and laid down with her, our limbs interlocking.

Mike's POV
It was a few weeks into school now and I think el has gotten used to the routine. I was waiting for her opposite her classroom last period, but she didn't see me and just walked out the front doors. I followed her to scare her when she got to the bike racks, our meeting place, but it turns out someone already beat me to it. Henry bowers stood leaning against the bike racks and looked up with an untrustworthy look on his face. I hid behind the huge bins and watched what was about to unfold. I saw el quickly turn around and try to leave but Henry grabbed her wrist and pushed her up against the wall, framing himself around her so that he acted as a cage, preventing her escape. He glared at a few nearby kids, even Troy and his cronies were terrified of bowers and they were bullies too. After what happened when he sliced this kid called ben's stomach open everyone is petrified of the psychotic bastard. And there he was leaning in to kiss MY future gf!! I couldn't stand it, I got up and prepared myself for the blows I would get from Henry. That was until will ( who has had a major growth spurt btw and is now joint tallest with mike in the party,) came forward with a look of pure anger spread across his face. "Oh look zombie boy is here to save you," Henry teased, but there was a hint of fear in his voice as Will was taller than him now and stronger too. "Let her go NOW." He said quietly glaring down at bowers. "What's it to you Byers?" He spat. "She your girlfriend???" He taunted.
"Sister, actually," he replied and punched Henry across the jaw. "And I strongly suggest that you leave her alone." He said as Henry scuttled away. A mixed look of terror and relief twisted els face as she hugged will and me thanking Will and kissing him on the cheek. This put me a bit on edge but hey, he saves el and I was thankful for that. But Will looked at me with a weird look on his face, then walked away shaking his head silently.
