Els POV
I think I fell asleep for a little while once mike had left. Well, I know I did or else how did I wake up? Well anyway, I continued watching the show that was on tv, waiting for mike and almost fell asleep again before he popped his head around the door.
"Cmon sleeping beauty, I got something for you." He said.
Mikes POV
Ok, it was all ready. I smiled to myself and headed down to get el. I slipped in through the door and stood and stared at el for a few moments, just admiring my baby before I cleared my throat.
"Come on sleeping beauty, I got something for you," I said.
"What is it?" She asked.
"I, Uh... I got you something, one last gift," I said, now suddenly nervous that I'd fucked it all up and that she'd hate it but I didn't have time to tell her to forget it cos she was already excited.
"It's, it's not anything good so don't like... don't be disappointed if it's shit basically, I mean I hope it's not but if it is then I..." I trailed off and looked at her.
"Mike. You did it. I'm sure I'm gonna love it," she said with a smile and took my hand. I smiled back even though I was internally screaming and lead her upstairs.
"Ok you're gonna have to wear this," I said giving her a blindfold.
"Ooh. Saucy." She said, holding it then looking up at me. My mouth dropped open and my eyes widened.
"El!" I said with a small laugh.
"What?!" She asked and put it on. "Come on then wheeler. Lead the way," she said holding out her hands. I led her upstairs and once we were at the top I spun her around for good measure. I drove her through into my room and told her to stand still. I opened the window and made sure everything was good. Once I was satisfied I helped her out of the window.
"Wait what? Mike are we on the roof?" She asked. I kept my mouth shut and clamped her fingers around the rope I had tied to the chimney to help her climb blindfolded.
"Do not let go of this rope. I'm serious, do not let go of that until I'm there to keep you safe ok?" I said. She nodded. I breathed out. I shut my window and climbed after her. Once she was where I wanted her to be, I climbed after her and took her hands again and sat her down.
"Ok," I said nervously. "Are you ready?"
She held her breath for a second before smiling.
"Yes..."
Els POV
He tugged the blindfold off and I opened my eyes. We were sat on a tartan blanket on the flattest bit of mikes roof with my favourite candle burning, many pillows scattered around and the music box from Joyce and Jonathan was playing it's beautiful tune. The dark sky and shining stars began to blur as tears came to my eyes.
"Mike..." I whispered putting my hand over my mouth as the tears spilled over onto my cheeks.
"This is..." I began.
"I'm sorry, it's an awful birthday present and it's... I mean I don't even know why I thought this was a good idea I~" I cut him off with a kiss.
"The word I was looking for was perfect." I said softly. He smiled and pulled me close.
Mikes POV
My mind went blank and the only thing I could think of was how right it felt, just to have her in my arms. The world was quiet and dark around us and the stars twinkled in the inky sky. El wasn't wrong when she said this was perfect. We were laid looking up at the infinite specks of light that were scattered in the sky, the steady tune of the music box playing its soothing song. I turned around and stroked her hair out of her face. She closed her eyes and leaned into my hand, smiling.
"El," I murmured.
"Hm?" She turned to face me.
"I love you so much. And I think that I would actually die if anything happened to you or I lost you. So," I said pulling her gift out of my pocket. El covered her mouth as tears sprung to her eyes. "This is an eternity ring. This means that I will love you forever no matter what happens. You are mine and I am yours. You could break up with me tomorrow and 100 years later I'd still love you. This is basically me showing how much I love you with something other than words or actions that you can keep forever." I said, now nervous that I'd come off as a bit head strong. She slipped the ring on her finger and flung herself at me before I knew what was happening. I clutched the rope to steady myself and hugged her back.
"Mike I love it. So much. Thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou!" She said with a smile. I leant down and kissed her. It was slow and soft and perfectly fitting for this beautiful night. I wish I could capture a moment and keep it trapped forever. But I knew I didn't need to because I'd never forget this. She snuggled into my chest and smiled, looking up at the stars. She was absolutely the most amazing girl If ever met and I just don't know how I got so lucky as to land myself with such an extraordinary masterpiece. It was just absolutely beyond me why she chose me. She could have anyone she wanted but for some unknown reason she chose me. Jack loved her. He was a hell of a lot fitter and hotter than me. But she chose ME. Me and only me. And I hugged her close knowing that. I looked up, there wasn't a swirl of colours like at foxwist but the simplicity of it made it that bit more beautiful. I sighed in pure happiness and smiled softly to myself. El curled her knees up to her chest and cuddled into me more. I grinned and took off my hoodie and handed it to her.
"You'll freeze!" She said, but took it none the less.
"No I won't, you're just always cold." I said. "So did you have a good day yesterday?" I asked.
"Yesterday?"
"Yeah it's not your birthday anymore. See the time?" I said, showing her my watch.
"One fifty two." She said. I nodded. "Well, yes I did thanks. And this is the perfect way to start today." She said. I smiled.
"Hey, I never asked, did you invite jack up?" She asked. I spun round. Please tell me he isn't here!
"He's not here silly, I mean did you invite him up from New Jersey?" She said. I shook my head vigorously.
"Hellllll no!" I said, maybe a little too hatefully.
"Ok there's no need to be like that. Why do you hate him so much anyway.?" She asked.
"There's no point denying it is there?" I asked.
"Nope." She said.
