"(f/n) didn't come home last night, I didn't hear the front door open after she had left."
"Yeah, she's staying at Semi's for the time being, she said she didn't want to make it awkward for both of us, as well as she didn't want to be annoying to you." Iwaizumi said, plopping himself onto the couch without a second glance at Oikawa.
"I screwed up."
"No you fucked up you dumbass."
"How am I suppose to get her back?"
"Well we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place if you weren't an idiot."
"How long are you going to hang this over my head?" Oikawa asked, crutching to the seat across from Iwaizumi on the couch. He looked up from his coffee before shaking his head. "Until you get it in your head that you fucked up so badly. With a girl like her, you should have never said that shit, you know how she feels about losing volleyball, you know she understand better than you with what you were going through, why didn't you let her help you?"
"I don't know."
"That's bullshit, you know why."
"Fine, because I didn't feel like I was good enough for her? I mean who is. I didn't want her to decide I wasn't good enough and leave me when I loved her too much, which I probably already do."
"If you don't think you're good enough for someone who loves you, there's no way in hell you should quit. You better try your damn best to be good enough for them then." Iwaizumi said with sigh, before getting off the couch with his empty mug of coffee.
"Can you call her?"
"Why would I call her?"
"So I can hear her voice, it makes me feel better."
"You don't deserve to feel better." Iwaizumi quickly snapped.
"Iwa-chan, please." There had a been a few sparse moments when Iwaizumi genuinely saw Oikawa beg, and this was one of those moments, he was at a loss of words at his friend's actions.
"But, there is one thing you need to be reminded of, or everyone has to be reminded of, because we guys, or anyone in general can be stupid. Why is it sometimes you forget how much you love someone until they're gone? You need to remember that the people you love, her specifically, are more important than anything else. More important than any timid feelings of rejection or not being good enough." Iwaizumi said to Oikawa, who sat there dazed.
"When did you become like this?"He asked finally, still surprised by Iwaizumi's wise words.
"When I lost my cousin, remember? When we had gotten into that huge fight about my attitude and he drove away from the house angry. He got killed by a reckless driver on his way home. That's when I learned to never leave the house or get out the car angry. I've been in countless arguments with you, but I've never left completely angry, I've always forgiven you. "
"How is she not in love with you yet? I wouldn't be surprised if she liked you better." Oikawa said, slumping into a ball on the couch as much as he could with a steel brace on.
"Because she fell in love with the guy with the not-so-perfect face. Besides she's like my sister and that crap would be weird."
"Whatever, but back to the point. Can you call her?"
"Yeah, what do you want me to talk about?"
"I don't know make up something." Oikawa said, before Iwaizumi shook his head, then dialed your number. He put it on speaker and his phone continued to ring for several seconds before you picked up."What's up roomie? Wait let me go to a quieter place." In the background was noise from what sounded like a party. There was a few shouts that rang out from his phone, before it became quiet.
"Where are you?"
"Semi's, Tendou came over and now he's throwing a party with the rest of the guys, if you would have checked your phone you would have gotten Semi's text message inviting you to join." You said with a teasing voice.
"Yeah well I'm babysitting, except thankfully the baby is asleep." He lied, as Oikawa leaned closer to Iwaizumi.
"Oh, well what's up?"
"I have a question about Oikawa."
"Hm?" You asked, as Iwaizumi quickly thought up a question.
"Will you ever forgive Oikawa?"
"Yeah eventually, I don't know about getting back together with him." You said with a soft sigh, Oikawa let out a breath of relief.
"You know you're basically perfect." Iwiazumi said, while he could hear you shuffling in a room or something.
"I'm not perfect. If I was perfect that would mean I had no flaws. I'm understanding and forgiving. We're all human we all make mistakes. We're all different, and we all believe different things, you just have to be willing to listening to other people's thoughts. "
"Mhm." Iwaizumi said unconvinced.
"Honestly, I'm not flawless even more so far from it. I'm understanding and willing to listen. What's the point of being in a relationship or getting to know someone if all you do is reject their beliefs and thoughts because they think differently? I'm not perfect, and other girls like to say find a man who puts up with your pettiness. I don't get why girls date guys and throw fits for no reason. I don't do that because I see no reason to do that. Guys deserve someone who will give them love and affection and a smack on the head once in a while. I want someone who is going to be willing to have fun in a grocery store with me or just by making normal things fun."
Oikawa put his face into a pillow and groaned, why, why did you have to be you? So flawed, yet so perfect for him?
"Well, aren't you an A+ girlfriend." Iwaizumi said, after listening to your mini-speech.
"Eh, not really." You said with a laugh, before the background music started playing again.
"Hey when will you be home?" he asked.
"You know when, tell Oikawa hey for me, I heard his grunt after what I said." You said, before hanging up abruptly.
Iwaizumi punched Oikawa in the shoulder, which left the setter to moan in pain, clutching his body.
"I told you to be quiet."
"No you didn't."
"It's common sense, which you obviously lack." Iwaizumi said annoyedly.
"So what am I going to do about (f/n)?" Oikawa asked, looking at his best friend, who's tone grew a thousand times colder.
"You better show everybody how un-perfect you are for that girl. She's the one, now you have to do everything you can to get her back."
Oikawa let out a sigh, before closing his eyes. "Love is dumb. But if this is what I have to do to get her back, I'm going to do everything I can possibly can."
