Chapter 23

"I missed you so much." You heard Oikawa whisper into your ear. You blinked, lifting your head up from the side of his bed. "You fell asleep on me already? I've barely been awake." Oikawa said with a chuckle, before you let out a loud sigh. "I'm sorry love, I didn't mean to. How are you feeling?" You asked, raising your hand to brush his chocolate hair out of his face. He smiled, he was glad to finally be awake and see your beautiful face, waiting for him.

"I'm feeling okay, but that's because you're here, otherwise I'd be feeling like trash." Oikawa nuzzled his face into your cheek as you gave him a small smile. You didn't know what felt worse, the fact that you had thought of Iwaizumi in a different way than a brother, only because the person you loved was asleep.

"I'm sorry. This should have never happened, I overreacted and I apologize for that." You said softly.

"I guess we really like hospitals huh?" Oikawa replied, before chuckling then breaking into a coughing spasm. "Hey don't laugh at your own joke too hard, I just got you back." You said, with a worried but teasing face as you laced your fingers with his. He smiled at you, before pitching his old egoistic comment, "I can't help myself with the fact that I'm funny. It's a gift that needs to be shared with the world."

"Whatever, I see that car hit your old sense of humor back into ya." You teased, helping him drink a bit of water for his dry throat.

"It's always been there sweetheart. So, tell me, what have you been up to?" He asked, doing his best to twist his body to look at you. You smiled at him, before he stared at you, listening intently. "Well, I was really bummed about what happened so I didn't move far from the couch. Until Semi came over. He would cook Iwa and us three meals a day, for the most part he spent the night at the apartment, and made sure I'd get air during the day. He'd take me to the park, and we'd just sit there and admire everything around us. I loved it. Although it did help a lot, it didn't help much with the fact that I still missed you. So, Semi, being the angel he is, went and adopted me a one-eyed kitten. His name is Pirate and he's precious. You'll love him. Iwa loves him, he sleeps with him every night and whenever he's in the shower, he'll wait for Iwa. It's so precious. " You said. Oikawa could see the way your eyes lit up when you talked about Iwa, but he wasn't sure if he was confusing it for Pirate.

"Wow, I'll have to thank Semi for that. I can't wait to meet this little Pirate." Oikawa said softly, however, he felt funny, hearing how you talked about Iwaizumi, it was different than before.

"Yeah you will. Other than that nothing much, just school. I had talked to your professors too and considering your circumstances they were more than willing to give you one assignment that covered everything while you had been gone instead of multiple ones. And since I really had nothing to do, for the most part, I finished basically all of it, along with Iwa's help of course. " You said. Oikawa smiled at you softly, and you smiled back, before his smile got slightly weaker.

"You look tired, I'm going to let you sleep, I'll be in the hallway love." You said leaning down and kissing his forehead.

Oikawa watched you go. You seemed slightly different, although he wasn't sure whether or not it was because of all the medication he was on.

"Hey." Iwa said, tugging your hair as you walked out into the hallway, before you then stopped to smile at him. "Hey dude."

"Between me and you, I didn't want to leave him home alone for such a long period of time." You raised eyebrow, questioning who he was. Until he pulled out of the cute little kitten from the inside of his jacket, as he looked at you before letting out a soft mewl. " Hajime." You said with a giggle, before moving closer to carefully keep the kitten so only you guys could see him.

"Sh. I felt bad leaving him alone okay?" He said, before you looked up and smiled at him. "You're such a dad." You said softly, before he placed the kitten into your hands. You curled Pirate close, before littering kisses all over his face.

You didn't know otherwise, but the blinds were open in the window that was facing the hallway that you were standing in currently. Oikawa just happened to turn his head to the side, seeing the way you two interacted made his stomach hurt. He remembered a while ago when he asked why weren't you in love with Iwaizumi. Well now he wasn't sure if you were really in love with him still, or with his best friend. It made his heart hurt to watch the way you two interacted, like best friends. But he couldn't blame you, Iwa had always been the one to reassure you when Oikawa was doing whatever the hell he wanted. Iwa had been there for you on your lowest days, and that was something he now regretted. He wish he would have been the person there, not the person who had let his own fear of being hurt take over.
