It had been a year. Every week you talked with Iwaizumi who would update you on life and ask you how you were doing.

Now, Oikawa was something else. He couldn't bring himself to call you, he had been hurting every single day since you left, and only then did he realize how much he needed you. Some days were better than others but for the most part, the ache was daily. He would see you posts on social media, seeing different places and meeting new people. He wished that could have been him with you, exploring the world while studying for your major. He would text you when it came across a holiday, wishing you a good day, etc. It took all of his energy to text you .

Now you, you were so busy, you had so much to do, so much to see that you barely had time to think about him. Yet in the darkness of the night, you wanted him to be beside you. 365 days was a long time not to see someone, but over the period of time, the ache and longing for him reduced.

You were having so much fun with a group of girls and guys you had met there, while doing research for your major. In all honesty, it was a dream, but you were happy it was nearing the last days of your study so you could go home. To your best friend, to your closest girl friends, and even Oikawa.

What you didn't know was that Oikawa started seeing someone while you were gone, actually he saw three girls, and each one was no where as amazing as you were. You saw him differently, and he realized he needed that understanding. He had been back to playing volleyball, and he was more than happy, he was making ok progress, but not enough to play the whole game. That crushed him inside, and none of the girls he had talked to could get him past that hurtle of not being good enough for volleyball, or for anyone as a matter of a fact.

You weren't expecting much as you opened the door of your apartment, but there was Semi, Ushijima, Kiyoko, Iwaizumi, and several other of your girl and guy friends waiting for you. Iwaizumi was smiling, before he gave you a massive hug, basically hugging the air out of you. Semi and Tendou were the next to sandwich you, much to your happiness. And then the rest filled in, everyone happy to see you again. People stayed for a good hour or two, learning about your adventures in Australia, before they bid you goodbye. There had only been one person you hadn't seen, and you wanted to see his face and hear his voice again. His mean words had dissipated from your mind, you just wanted him.

"You didn't tell Tooru you were coming home did you?"Iwaizumi asked, helping you clean up from the guests you had over.

"No, I think a part of me wasn't ready to see him yet, but now I know I wanted to see him." You said softly, washing the dishes in the sink.

"Well, he's missed you. I can tell you that. But so did I." He gave you a hug, as you smiled, finishing the rest of the dishes. "He has a practice game tomorrow, if you want to go, you should."

"Okay, I will, as long as you join." He smiled at you, before leaving you to yourself.

Once you were done cleaning up, you decided you'd go to bed. Your good friends had already redone your room for you, decorating it with seashells and beach items, something you'd see in Australia. You smiled, before sliding into bed.

You were beginning to doze off, when you heard footsteps outside of your bedroom. You looked at your phone, seeing the time to be 12 in the morning.

Slowly, you sat up, looking at the figure.

Oikawa stood in your doorway, arms across his chest. Everything about him seemed more muscular than when you had last seen him. His hair was still the same chocolate color in the low light, but he looked older, and sadder. However, he was still the same handsome guy you fell head over heels for almost two years ago. His glasses rested on his face and he had a frown on his lips.

"Tooru?" You asked hesitantly, not sure if you were dreaming. He continued standing there, before he moved to you without saying a word.

He took a seat on the corner of your bed, as you looked at him in a daze.

"(f/n)-chan. How was Australia?"

"What are you doing here?" You asked, before he moved to stand up.

"You left..." He paused, "And you took my heart with you. And I realized that the best thing I could have done was let you get on that plane."

You sat there, with no words avalible. You blinked again, then he was gone, it all had been a dream. You gingerly reached for where he sat, only feeling cold cloth between your fingers instead of the warmth you wished for.
