Within minutes you were at the nearest hospital, rushed into the ER. You were bitten by a poisonous insect while you were in Australia. It took the doctors two hours to stablize you and your spratic muscle spasms along with several other symptoms, however, they still needed to know what insect had bitten you so they could get medicine to treat the poison.
Iwaizumi remembered you saying you had taken a daily log of everything that had happened within the year that you were gone. So, he rushed back to the apartment in search for the journal to help the doctor's narrow down the places you were in the past week.
Meanwhile, Oikawa had raced to the hospital after he went and showered, apparently the team doctor said it was not good to be in contact with another person's blood. Once he got there, he waited as the receptionist told the female in front of him that there was a family only policy. He bit his lip, thinking of how he was going to get to see you now that you were out of surgery.
"Next." He walked up to the counter. "Who are you here to see?" She asked, looking up at the chocolate haired male. "(l/n)(f/n)," he stated.
"And you are related to her how?" She asked, before Oikawa felt his heart speed up.
"I'm her fiance." Oikawa said, hoping his excuse would work.
"Can you show me some I.D?" He withdrew his idea, along with a photo of the two of them together, before he slipped his wallet back into his pocket, she granted him access.
Once he reached your room number, he entered inside, his heart breaking at the sight of you laying in the bad, incredibly pale. "(f/n)." He whispered, watching you struggle to breathe.
Oikawa brought a chair to your bedside, watching as you took ragged breaths. Iwaizumi looked at the male at your bedside, his heart hurt to watch you be in so much pain. The doctors had put you into a medically induced coma to stop your rapid muscles spasms and vomiting of blood you had experienced. The spiky haired male dropped your journal besides Oikawa on your bed.
"She had gotten bitten by a Sydney Funnel Web Spider, luckily there's anti-venom at the hospital. She had gotten bitten on the last day of her trip before she headed home. It takes three days for the toxin to kill a person, luckily for her it was probably a juvenile who luckily only injected a small amount of poison into her body. However her body reacted to it violently. " He said, he couldn't look at you anymore, so Iwaizumi left the room to go outside in the fresh air.
Oikawa went to move his arm as he knocked your journal off the bed. He looked from you to the floor, his eyes landing on the faded leather book currently resting open on the floor. He leaned down to pick it up, before he saw you had written at the back of the book.
Growing curious, he opened up to the last half of the book, seeing the dates on it were from when you were in junior high. He knew he shouldn't but he flipped open to a random passage, reading what you had said.
Today was tougher than usual. All the girls in the class were mean like usual, turning away from me and talking bad about me. They called me ugly and annoying. I don't know why I'm not good enough to be friends with them. If I look sad they say I'm begging for attention. If I'm happy they find ways to make me hurt. My mom says it's because they're jealous of how gorgeous I am. But is it true? I don't want to be 'attractive' anymore then, to the point where girls are mean to me because of it.
Oikawa's heart broke as he flipped a few more pages, reading the next entry you had done. It hurt his heart to read your inner thoughts, to see how people had torn you down because of who you were.
My mom hopes that the way girls treat me won't turn my heart into ice. She knows it's hard for me to like myself anyways, and with them being mean she's worried about me. I sleep way more than I used to and I've stopped eating, I'm not hungry anymore. She's taking me to a therapist. He suggested trying out volleyball, and I like it so far. It makes me feel good to apart of a team, although they're boys, they're dependent on me to do my job once I'm on the court, and that makes me happy in a way I never thought it would.
He smiled at this, you fell in love with volleyball because it helped you feel better about yourself. Oikawa didn't know this side of you, and guessing by the way you had written the entries, no one knew how much you were really hurting. However, it made him fall in love with you that much more.
My dad said I got a call from a coach from a prestigious athletic school for volleyball, they were wondering if I would be interested in playing on a scholarship for their girls team. My mother had me take an entrance exam, while I had no clue what school it was for. But they said I passed the exam for Shiratorizawa with flying colors. So, I'll be attending there, and luckily my neighbor Semi will be going there too! I'm excited, I got into the school with my brains and my ability to do something I love.
Oikawa felt his heart melt as he continued reading. But at the same time, he could feel your aching heart through the pages. On top of that you had lost volleyball, the thing that made you forget everything else, the sport that made you feel good. Now he truly realized why you had taken losing volleyball during your second year of college so hard. He flipped to one of the last passages you had written, which was the start of your first year.
I'm determined to become the best version of myself possible. I'll let no one see my weakness, because showing weakness is weakness. Sometimes, it gets exhausting, trying to act happy all the time, at the end of the day I'm dead. I've grown so used to acting flawless, it's as if everyone is waiting for me to screw up so they can just attack me and tear me apart. I'm scared, that girls are going to be mean like they were in junior high, but I'm also scared guys are only going to want me because of my so called 'attractiveness'. It's happened so many times before, I just want to be loved for my heart.
Oikawa had never heard about your feelings this in depth before, now everything made sense. The reason why you didn't show weakness was so no one could pick you apart like they had in grade school. He now knew why you were so down to earth, because you had known what it felt like to be an outsider, alienated from others. The more he thought about it, the more he fell in love with your precious heart which was still warm and loving, despite everything that had happened to you.
He couldn't count the endless amount of times where you had talked to a random stranger who looked lonely when he was with you. Even if the person wasn't so appealing, you included them into your life without a second thought. You wanted people to belong because you didn't want them to feel like you had so many years ago.
He leaned over, closing the journal as he held your cold hand. Oikawa felt tears well up in his eyes as he ached, all he wanted was for you to be healthy and in his arms. He just wanted to make you as happy as he possibly could.
"I hope you know that I love you for your heart, your looks are a fantastic bonus, but we both know what really matters is the beauty on the inside. Because of you I've found flaws to be something treasured, and when you meet the right person, their love fills in for all the areas you're lacking. But, I'm going to need you to wake up and get better so I can thank you for making me realize that." Oikawa bent over, placing a kiss on your forehead before he looked at your barely breathing figure again.
